I have been to over 50 or so Japanese gardens and enjoy the calm/serenity that they bring to your soul. This place is kind of sad & pathetic. I would describe it as more of a Japanese inspired garden. I not sure if the city has had to cut back on staffing or what, but there's serious lack of maintenance at this garden. Furthermore, there's a whole host of other issues: over-planting, poor trimming of trees/shrubs, weeds everywhere, and multiple water features not functioning. Some of the rock/boulders were not placed properly and were scattered about in an artificial way. Lastly, the main waterfall looks like it was designed to be in amusement park ride. The rest of the botanical garden was OK, but again there's a serious back log on maintenance upkeep and...

The Albuquerque Botanical Gardens is great family fun for any age. We saw a mama duck with 13 chicks swimming in the pond in the Japanese gardens. There were so many yellow Columbines everywhere, Colorado State flower. My husband and I saw a Roadrunner running across the plaza with his lunch in his beak, NM state bird you know. There's plenty of shade and lots of benches throughout to take a break. I would recommend going early and take a snack and water bottles in your backpack. Wheelchairs are available on first come basis for $10. The model trains were running and the volunteer Railroad staff were on hand. There was a dinosaur train, bug train, Santa Fe and if course Thomas. My 17 year old grandson really enjoyed the garden and aquarium. What are you...

Very nice place to visit.. the only criticism I would have is the paths were dirty and cluttered with trampled leaves and debris. I did not see any city employees on any of the trails to ask questions or directions . the only interaction I had with an employee was a young lady at the aquarium that scolded my wife for not having her mask over her nose. The employees seemed to have no enthusiasm. The gift shop employees were not very freindly or engaging at all. One thing I thought was contradictory was the last display at the aquarium. was the anti plastic rant about how it hurts the environment just to walk into a gift shop that sells everything made of plastic . The tampon dispenser in the display needs to be removed it doesn't represent a family...

Today was a beautiful rainy day at the botanical gardens. There were very few people which made it perfect to explore and see all the nooks that there is to offer. A few things are still closed due to covid and that's ok. Some things are closed or blocked off without explanation that we're outside, maybe because of the rain, not sure. The rain made a few paths slippery, so be careful. I included photos from a prior visit on Earth Day as well. Earth Day was very busy, was difficult to explore around people, but they gave away a plant to everyone who came to celebrate.
