We have been waiting for years to go to this restaurant. We're never in the area and we've never gone to try it and we finally did. I just wish I took more pictures. I meant to take pictures of everyone's plates and I was so hungry that I forgot to take the pictures. The atmosphere is so heartwarming and rememberable. It's in an Old Village in that still looks the same from back in my childhood. All Village Inns have remodeled with all of the fancy-dancy lights and everything. This was what I grew up with when going too many Village Inns as a kid and as a teenager. To talk about the food. The salsa and chips were just wonderful. They're green chile is awesome. The red Chile it's good but it could be better. The taco was awesome with a very delicious meat called Desebrada. What is so nice is, the garnish is not bagged lettuce. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes cut by hand. The french fries are hand-cut just like you got back in the day at restaurants. They were cooked to perfection. We also had a chile relleno that everyone tasted and it was very good. The rice and beans were superb. The rice is Fluffy and perfectly cooked. Everyone was happy with their meal. One person got the papa taco and they weren't very pleased with it. The service was absolutely Pleasant and friendly. We will definitely go back and try there are other food items.

Me and my mom love coming here. They have the best Menudo. I like that they have the option of ordering a Pata (pig foot). That is the best addition to Menudo. It also comes with toasted buttered bolio (bread). Accompanied with lime, oregano, and onion. If you like Menudo. You would love this place. They offer small or large bowl. The large is pretty good size. I usually have some left to take home. Their shrimp cocktail is also really good. I would recommend this place. The only downside is I wouldn't order the sopapillas. They run about a dollar something each and their size is laughable. Super small, a little bigger than a cracker (pic posted). I was disappointed and they didn't taste good either. I even laughed when the waitress brought them out asking where the rest of the sopapilla was. She said they used to make fresh, but they no longer do, so they buy them from somewhere else. No bueno! They do have good salsa. They bring a complimentary basket of tortilla chips and salsa to the table. This restaurant is handicapped accessible as well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I could give 10 stars I would. We went in with a little uncertainty as I don’t like any level of spice, but remembering a Mexican restaurant we went to in England where I found a non-spicy dinner I enjoyed, I had my fingers crossed. It turns out I had nothing to worry about. Our server was SO helpful - he explained so much of the menu to us and answered all of our questions. While we were waiting for our food he brought us some samples of pork dishes from the menu to try. My husband, always says doesn’t like pork, said it was absolutely delicious - and it really was SO tasty. Our food arrived and honestly, it really was absolutely delicious. Every single thing we ordered tasted AMAZING. When we got the bill we couldn’t believe how cheap it was. It was definitely worth double. The only negative thing I can think of is that we are leaving the area tomorrow so won’t be able to eat there again. Lovely staff Delicious food Not at all expensive Perfect. Just perfect 👌🏼

May, 2025: I don't know what happened to this place! The combination plate was SWIMMING in rancid oil from the chile relleno that was not cooked properly. The rice lacked flavor (except for the taste of old oil from the plate.) The cheese enchilada was luke warm and naked. The horchata was the only thing done properly. The music was so loud, my eardrums STILL hurt. When I paid ($28 with tip!) I told the young man about the issues with the food and he did nothing about it. He just made a pantomime of sopping up grease with paper towels and told me he would advise the cook to do that next time! Gracious, me! I certainly won't be back. After all these years of going to that restaurant, all the way back when they were a little place on Isleta, I am disappointed in what has happened to this place.

OLDER EXPERIENCES AT THIS PLACE:

I introduced another friend to this restaurant the other day and she LOVED IT so I thought I would come on over here and renew my old recommendation.

Just one thing was not particularly good. The sopapillas that I ordered were awful. They taste like they came out of a boxed mix and the oil was not tasty. They used to be better. Other than that, everything is great.

I had the tamale senior plate the last time I was there. SO tasty! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. This restaurant is awesome. The menu is huge and it includes a senior menu, which is just right for those with a light appetite, yet it incudes a variety of items. The food is really fresh and tastes like you've gone to grandma's house where everything is home made. The refried beans are SO tasty! The sopapillas were a bit of a disappointment, unfortunately, but everything else is just wonderful. Not only that, but the waitstaff is super efficient and friendly. The prices are very fair. I can't say enough good things about this place except I am SO glad it is in my...

I ordered a large pozole and an order of chile cheese fries. It took them about 40 minutes to bring the food to my table. The menu says that the chile cheese fries could be red or green, I ordered Christmas (both). When they brought them, they were just generic foodservice fries with some sort of weird, gross brown gravy on top, which I guess was supposed to be the two chiles with queso or melted cheese. $7.99 for this?? Wienerschnitzel has much better looking and tasting chili jalapeño fries for half the price. The pozole is the worst I have ever had in my life (I am Mexican, born and raised in Mexico). The meat was ok even though having pozole with huge chunks of meat is new for me, the meat (pork, chicken) is supposed to be shredded. Also, no fixings. None. No oregano, no chili powder, no shredded lettuce, no radish, no chopped onion, no tostadas. The only thing I appreciated as a "fixing" were 2 lime wedges that came with the bowl of pozole. All the red broth contained was hominy (garbanzo) and the meat. $14.00 for this. Also, the servers kept walking past me and they never offered to refill my drink, I had to ask the person who brought my food to the table. When you pay, the cashier/hostess (you pay at the front) awkwardly asks you how much of a tip you want to leave, 15%, 20%, 25%, pointing at a screen she flipped to show me the options. I really felt like leaving $1.00 because the service was very questionable, but I told the cashier to tap on 15%. I am not in favor of these bullying tipping tactics. Food wasn't good, service was questionable at best, it took them too long to have the food ready, you are bullied to leave a significant tip even if the service wasn't good. I...

Went in and placed a order to go. She told me it would be 15 min. A couple went in about 20 minutes after we had been waiting and was seated. 30 min went by and no order I went to the counter and asked how much longer I was annoyed because they were not that busy. The girl went to the back to check and she was back there for a while which told me they didn't have my order. As I am waiting the couple that was seated got their food. The girl comes out and says they are warming the menudo right now. I told her about the couple that already got their food and told her I've been waiting for 40 min at this point and I wanted my money back. She went to go tell them in the back and I could hear the girl in the kitchen very rudely say never mind guys now she doesn't want it and then repeated it again she wanted me to hear. Instead of saying I'm so sorry they act like it was my fault the order wasn't ready and they wanted me to wait another 20 min. which would of been over an hour long for a Posole a Menudo and a kids chicken finger basket. Horrible customer service and they do not care if you go back. My family was a loyal customer especially through the pandemic and not having workers and only being open sometimes we supported this restaurant so they would make it only to be treated horrible. I will never go back again. I will also let everyone know how horrible their service is. They have no regard for their customers they do not care one bit and it is their customers that keep their restaurant in business. Shame on the employees for treating...
