San Ignacio Catholic Church in Albuquerque offers a reverent 12 pm Traditional Latin Mass in a beautiful historic setting. Peaceful, welcoming, and faithful to tradition—perfect for quiet prayer and sacred liturgy. Quote-“Just go into your church for a moment and say, “Hi, Jesus, I’m here. I don’t have much to say.” He knows that....He wants our will, our love, our faith, and our trust. Remember now, you have that, you have everything. Every day, whatever church you belong to, he waits in that tabernacle, hoping when that door opens, it’s you.” —Mother Angelica

This is a lovely, little, local church. Daily mass and confessions are such a blessing, especially during Lent.

UPDATE: A friend and I attended a Latin mass on Jan 1, a holy day of obligation, and I was very surprised at how different it was from the last time I visited, about 7 months ago. (I did not have a ride for many months so was unable to return right away.)

My first visit was wonderful, but this time everyone completely ignored us. My friend and I, both disabled, were sitting in the pew specifically set up for the handicapped people - complete with the blue sign and everything - and although I kept craning my neck during the communion and TRYING to grab someone's attention, I was ignored. I could not seem to make eye contact with anyone. Typically, when you go to a new parish, especially a small one, the regulars will be welcoming, but everyone's face wore this somber look, as if we were attending a funeral, which I found surprising. (The Latin Mass is SO beautiful, I can't stop from smiling!)

After the service, when people were lining up to say goodbye to the Father, I asked him how the handicapped people were to get the Eucharist and he told me I should WAVE at him during the service. Can you IMAGINE? WAVING at the priest in the middle of the service? The priest kept looking past me at people behind me in the line and he was not welcoming either. IT was a strange experience.

I have a feeling if I had showed up with an entire family, I may have been more welcome. We were dressed appropriately and behaved appropriately, so it was not us. Anyway, I will try it again before I give up on that church. Maybe I'll just go on Fridays and see how it goes. They have confession every Friday, which is good for me, as I like to do it weekly, so I'll just go to confession and I hope I won't have to wave at the priest during the mass to get the eucharist! I just can't get down on my knees, which they do on Sunday's, in the old fashion.

I THINK this is the only parish that has Latin Mass, and the Latin Mass is only one day a week at this parish - on Sunday.

I do remember the office gal being VERY friendly and warm on the phone. I may drop in on her during the week and enlist her help in getting to know the community. THE OLD REVIEW: The FRIENDLIEST, most spiritually uplifting little church in all of Albuquerque. The sacristan and the office gal and the Father were all extremely kind to me the one time I went in there recently. I plan to attend their Latin mass, as soon as I can get freed up at home. I have been going through some problems with some construction at my apartment complex that forces me to stay at home, plus I am disabled and it is very hard to get around, but I plan to do my best to attend the Latin mass as soon as I am able to get out there on a Sunday. It is SUCH A RELIEF to find a welcoming parish. I am going to make this my parish, if I can. I just love this...

From what I remember I had dont been here in years, but the last recent time was a couple years ago and I did not like the sermon from what I remember. It used to be a childhood church and thought I could go back and that I would like it again . To tell you the truth I liked the church in Alabama better now, but Im not religious anymore so that may have something to do with it, but after being in Alabama too long you kind of loose your religion at least that's what happened to me. Ok for what I did love about this church was that it had holy water and had a really nice smell to it and really traditional in Catholism which is...
