I am always on the look out for a stellar hair dresser and countless places have failed to meet my expectations, to the point that I was beginning to dread my monthly haircuts.
During my visit to LA, my girlfriend recommended this place to me through her friend and we were able to book with them. The staff was very flexible and stayed late - even to 7pm, due to the traffic I faced while driving down from the Bay Area. They were also very accommodating.
The design of the hair studio is very unique, while providing comfort. The chairs are full leather chairs, probably the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in for a haircut. The hairdresser, Anderson Chen, is very creative and precise. I was surprised to learn that he designed the hair studio layout by himself.
Anderson showed great skill throughout the haircut. He has plenty of years of experience and recently trained in Japan, and it shows. He was very meticulous. The most amazing thing is he thought of a hairstyle that would fit my facial structure and executed it flawlessly. Throughout the haircut, he also provided helpful tips on how I could style my hair and what to tel future barbers to best cut my hair. Lastly, Anderson washed my hair prior to the cut and afterwards to ensure he didn't miss cutting any stray hairs.
I am glad to have finally found such a skilled hair dresser for a price that is practically a steal given his talent ($30). The only sad thing is that I do not live here so I can't get regular haircuts, but anytime I am in need one and I am in LA, I know where...
Read moreI’d like to thank the previous reviews that mentioned Anderson. I moved to LA about 2 years ago and found it very difficult to find someone who could cut my hair well. Im a big head Asian guy and if you don’t cut my hair right, the top of my sides always stick out and most stylists/ barbers can’t get it right. I read the previous reviews and went in and asked for Anderson who is also the owner. I walked in and immediately liked the vibe and music they had playing in the background. Anderson very quickly understood how I wanted my cut and then also gave me 2 options on how he thought my hair should be styled. He gave me one of the best cuts I’ve ever had. The cost was $35. Andersons Wife, Chi Chi was the receptionist and also washed my hair before and after the cut and Anderson also took his time to make sure he did not miss anything. Anderson has had his salon business for 20 years and I can see why. Finally found my go to place in LA...
Read moreMixcut is definitely one of the best hair stylists I've had the pleasure to cut my hair in all my experiences. Anderson really knows what he's doing and has never left me disappointed. Before, I would drive to Ktown and wait for an hour or so to get a haircut, even for a trim! Now, I have the luxury of not having to wait in line for a cut as good as any. Mixcut is a private studio so you really feel like a VIP when you're there, unlike some run-of-the mill chains that are disorganized and hire unskilled stylists. With all that said, the main selling point and purpose of a hair studio is the hair cut and skill level of the stylist right? Therefore, I can assure you that Anderson is highly advanced in his hair-cutting technique and his innate sense of styling hair is excellent. Don't take my word for it, go see him for yourself. Oh, and he's a super nice and funny...
