This review is for the vaccine clinic. It was very well organized and smooth. It took me about 40 minutes from the moment I entered the parking lot in my car to the moment I left. Right after turning in they asked if I needed any kind of handicapped assistance, which I refused. However my mother had used it and told me that they have a drive-thru area for handicapped and elderly people. The rest of us get shuttled around to a parking garage. Just before entering they take your temperature through your car window. You must have your mask on for this part. Then you enter the parking structure and park up on the 4th floor. You have to go down the stairs or perhaps an elevator to the second floor of the parking garage where there is a check in station. Then you have to walk about a block to the gymnasium where you get your vaccine. You have to show your appointment code and identification again at the vaccine site. Then you get your shot and go to a sitting area to wait for 15 minutes. Then you are free to go! I never waited more than about a minute at any of the stations. My appointment was at 9:15am and I arrived at the parking lot at about 9:15. However, as I was leaving I saw that there was a much longer line of cars heading into the parking lot, so perhaps starting late morning the lines get longer. Still, I don't think the wait will be very long for anybody. There were lots of people directing traffic (car and foot) along the way. Everything is very clear as to where to go and what to do. I was impressed, very well organized! While I was sitting during my 15 minute wait time after the shot, my second appointment showed up automatically in...
Read moreI am currently a senior at Soka University and I can honestly say that this school has been my dream come true. When I first got my acceptance letter and started researching into the school, I thought it was too good to be true. But it has lived up to every expectation and has been a blessing for me. Here are some of my favorite perks:
The dorms are luxurious. Freshman get their own bathroom and share their room with one other person. Sophomores and juniors get their own room and share a bathroom with just one other person. Many seniors get their own room and bathroom.
Study abroad is built into the tuition. I went to Madrid for a semester and there was no extra cost to me. Soka even paid for my flight and transportation to the airport!
The food is incredible. Our chefs are the best. Come try our food if you ever get a chance.
I have seen shows in our Performing Arts Center (tickets are only $5 for students) by performers from Germany, China, South America, etc.
The classes have a maximum of 15 students (most classes have 7-8 students) and are student-centered. They have opened my mind up to so many different kinds of thinking.
The career services office is amazing (go Jennifer Cunningham!). She helped me land a teaching job with Teach for America after graduation.
I have made lifelong friends through this university.
I am so grateful to Soka for giving me the best four years of my life. I wish I could stay in college...
Read moreI am currently a sophomore at SUA. One thing that makes this university different is that you will get 100% of the professors’ attention for both class work and personal projects. Although college is challenging, SUA has different resources to help each student learn the skills they need to get the most from their education career.
The diverse student body here helps students understand their identities through questioning them and hearing perspectives from other students. Students also get a chance to explore even more diverse identities through the fully funded study abroad while also polishing their language skills. The small class size allows me and the rest of my classmates to participate comfortably and have one to one interactions with our professors after class. The resources here, for example the writing center, are designed to help all students despite their background in different fields. One of my favorite parts about life here at SUA is how everyone is genuinely approachable and respectful of each other. SUA allows us to grow immensely at our own paces yet also challenging us to solve issues in our societies through...
