My wife and I have been going to Tony's in Aliso Viejo for a few years now, a couple/few times a month. Always a great time. Their pizza is one of the best in the area, as are their wings and sandwiches. They also regularly rotate their taps, something that doesn't always happen at similar places. The employees seem to have fun at their jobs, and having met the owner Joe a few times, I can see why. He knows how to run a business and treat his employees, which translates to his customers enjoying their time while there. Highly recommend. GO LIONS!
UPDATED REVIEW AS OF 11/11/24
It's quite sad to have customers, from what I can tell, they appear to be very regular customers, ruin a simple pizza dinner out with my wife. As a mixed-race couple in Orange County (particularly South Orange County), we get the occasional glance/stare. I'll chalk that up to flat-out ignorance on their part. I draw the line when customers conversing immediately next to you think a racial type of comment is appropriate. Freedom of speech in one thing, blatant (near) racism is another. Also, this is very much a family-oriented business, but from the foul language from middle-aged men at the bar, you'd sometimes think you were at a dive bar. Then, there's the treatment my wife received when attempting to be a good person to others in thinking a lost item in the restroom was theirs. Trying to do a good thing isn't deserving (ever) of the comments thrown back at her. Evidently, a simple "oh, no, that's not mine, but thanks for checking" is way above their sense of entitlement. Good for them.
Great food, great staff, but it might be time to become a takeout customer and enjoy a cold beer at home. Something tells me the above behavior will continue...
Read moreAmazing staff, awesome venue and vibe, the quintessential pizza spot every town deserves to gather at. Why two stars?
The pizza was very, very, very disappointing. I've been a professional cook for many years, and am a hobby baker at home so I feel qualified to comment on here. I don't expect every spot to have amazing top tier pizza, but when domino's is out doing you in flavor, you've got an issue.
The dough is too bland, neither thin and crispy, nor substantial and pillowy, it's just very flat bland dough.
The sauce has 0 flavor, no spice nor any salt, a chain like roundtable pizza out does their sauce by quite a margin. The flavor and lack of body leads me to believe they buy pre-made sauce
The cheese is nothing special, pretty hard to screw up mozzarella, same with the toppings. Their tony bread was just dough with bland garlic butter on top
Should they make an effort to make their pizza better I'll be back. Otherwise it was a massive disappointment flavor-wise, which is a shame as the venue and staff are top tier. Save your money and get a frozen pizza
Maybe they had a bad day and forgot to add salt and spices. Maybe it was a one-off, but first impressions matter the most in the restaurant industry, and they failed me with their food. I suggest giving the cooks plastic spoons so they can taste sauces and the like as they prepare them
Edit: I just want to say, the bland pizza here motivated me to learn to make a pizza, and I can report within 2 weekends of coming here I efficiently made a much more delicious pie with a superior dough... it wasn't hard. Taste the sauce and season it, have people sample it and adjust, throw melted butter with garlic on the crust, add some hot honey....
Read moreThis was a great experience all around from the delicious food, great priced drinks, and inexpensive arcade games & enjoyable live music. Warm and welcoming staff all around from beginning to end. It was my first visit here and received exceptional service even though it was very very busy....very impressive! The staff takes pride in accommodating request and all with a smile. Even the guys bussing the tables, checked in with us. “Marcus” recognized our new faces and was very kind and also shared some back story about the business and the owners passions about the restaurant. I also had a wonderful first impression from “Yugi” at the bar. Even though he was very busy, he acknowledged us right away and was very efficient with managing the bar side service. No one was standing around waiting to be served. Yugi enlightened us about the live music schedule and also shared the different genres they hosted there before he invited us back. It was also a sweet gesture to be thanked by the owner ”Joe “ as we were walking out the door at the end of the night. This is a great place to watch sports and hang with friends as well as a family setting with something for everyone. My friends and I will most definitely...
