I’m so bummed! We’ve been coming to play at the playground area with the man-made stream to splash around in for 3 years now. We came today 3/05/21 to discover a developer built an apartment building right ON TOP of the beautiful play around. It almost feels like we’re encroaching on these peoples’ backyard! The other newer apartment buildings are just far enough away that the playground still felt like a public place for families. This new building blocks trees and boxes in the area giving it an urban feel. That would be cool if families had been made aware of what the full Vision for River prairie was meant to be. It would have been welcomed if the Altoona governing officials had given the community a voice in regard to the development of this beloved place for local families. Read moreWe went to the Gigantic🎃 Pumpkin Fest. We entered our dogs in the costume contest. Unfortunately it rained a bit. But did not stop everyone from having a blast. There was stuff to see and do for everyone. The park itself has people/dog walking paths everywhere. A brook running down the middle of the park for kiddos to swim in. oh my goodness so so much to do. My favorite is the Veterans Park inside the park itself. God Bless America 🇺🇸 What a privilege to have these two parks in our community to share with other. Someone had a spectacular vision. Read moreThe venue is amazing and the atmosphere is great. I would get portapotties closer to the music and more food choices. If it were hosted more frequently, I think a more diverse band choice would be greatly relieved. Wednesday music in the park is great if you were born before 1960. It's sponsored by 98.1 which doesn't broadcast oldies but it's all that's played with the exception of one or two weeks of the summer. They say the oldies draw more people. If they played the music live that they broadcast, it would draw more...
