Stopped at the Mead Art Museum on a quiet fall weekend while heading home from camping up north. The museum is fairly small, but the variety of work on display was impressive. I captured a few nice photos of the galleries without much foot traffic to work around. Afterward, we sat in Adirondack chairs on the campus green to catch the sun and take in the distant view of Mount Holyoke. A peaceful, worthwhile stop if you’re passing through Amherst and want a low-key art and nature combo.

Small and beautiful gallery to me. I visited Mead when it exhibited Michael Rakowitz and Early Amherst College collections. I enjoyed it and appreciate the college attitude towards respecting different opinions and allowing voices to be presented and heard even for criticism. The exhibition inspired my deeper thinking about right and wrong, concepts and social constructions.
