Paradise of India — Restaurant in Amherst

I have to give them 5 stars. This restaurant has been in Amherst for so long which says a lot about their quality and consistency. The food is amazing and portions are great! In terms of authenticity you can be assured your getting authentic Indian food, I went many times with my friend from Mumbai and she was always impressed with the food! This is a family owned local restaurant which makes me feel even better when I eat and do business with them. Their staff is very friendly and accommodating and I've always felt taken care of when I eat here. The restaurant itself is small but very beautifully decorated and clean!!! I have never had to complain about a dish or call for an error in my order!! I order a lot of take out and I cant say the same for other restaurants.

I also know that this business participated in a program during the pandemic to make meals for low income people in the town of Amherst. To me, that is enough of a reason to give them my business and go out of my way to eat there. The whole experience is wonderful- especially in this rural setting where popovers are worshipped and apple butter is a delicacy. The menu is loaded with interesting and tasty dishes made at any spice-level you want. Lunch is a particular bargain, but for these meticulously made items like homemade cheese and naan bread fluffier than a cloud I dare people to try to make any item better at home. I’d love to hear about your chutney in Kerela that was better, but remember… this is Amherst and we are so blessed to have people making outstanding recipes from one of the great ancient cultures of the world right here. Mostly to satisfy my Pakistani food cravings in US, I go to Indian restaurants, only to find out that only name of the restaurant is Indian but chefs and owners are all Pakistanis. This has happened with me several time. Maybe, it is because, Pakistani and Indian cuisine is pretty much the same but more Indian people reside in US and keeping Indian names of restaurants is a good business strategy to bring more customers. I always had an amazing food experience in such restaurants. This one was first exception. The name was Indian and the owners were too. Maybe, my taste bud didn't match or what, I had the worst Biryani experience. Pakistanis are pretty sensitive about Biryani (not kidding).
