I had my wedding here earlier this year. There are definitely pros and cons to this wedding venue. I think they are working out some kinks, which for the price you pay, I don’t think the issues we had should’ve been an issue.
I’ll start with the pros: -The space is gorgeous, no doubt about it. The bridal suite is stunning, however, it’s sort of strange that there’s no space for the groom/groomsmen to get ready. My husband felt very left out. -There is ample parking and the new hotels across the street that make accommodations for the wedding guests so easy! No shuttle needed. Location is perfect! -the tables and chairs are cute (even tho it’s required to rent table cloths? Not sure why they don’t just include that)
CONS: -there seemed to be quite a bit of miscommunication within the planning process. The girl we worked with was sweet, but I fear not quite organized. 1. We were told our tablecloths (which were required to rent) would be there the day before our wedding by noon to get ready. Well, that time comes and goes and no table cloths, we kept being fed excuses, then finally at 1:30 we were told they actually mixed up the date. We were supposed to be done decorating at this point, but couldn’t because we didn’t have table cloths. We were then told we would be partially refunded for the mix up, but we never were. We were told for months that they couldn’t guarantee our rehearsal date until the month of the wedding to make sure no other events booked that night. Ok no big deal. I asked repeatedly leading up to our wedding date. She finally said we could book our rehearsal time, to then tell us oops she booked the Saturday wedding rehearsal at our time (we had a Friday wedding). Ok no biggie we work around it. The Saturday wedding shows up to our rehearsal and treats us awful. 😞
-THE DRINKING WATER IS AWFUL. To this day, if I ask anyone who attended my wedding what they would’ve changed, every single person tells me how no one could drink the water because of the AWFUL chlorine taste. HOW EMBARRASSING. For what you pay for this venue, drinking water should NOT be a concern. They need to serve filtered water or some or get some type of drinking water service. My poor grandparents couldn’t even drink it at all, we had to keep running to the bridal suite to get water bottles for people. I never thought when venue shopping to worry about drinking water. Hopefully they get this sorted because after speaking our concerns to the bartender, we were told “I know, we keep telling the owner and they won’t do...
Read moreI am a mobile DJ in central Iowa and I had the privilege of being the DJ/EMCEE at a wedding at Toast this past weekend. The experience of working with Toast was amazing and I would like to highlight the great aspects of this venue and what makes it unique:
The venue is beautiful. They can seat many guests as you can see in the photos I've attached. Also, there is a beautiful outdoor rooftop patio for cocktail hour. Toast also has a well-designed floor layout. Cocktail hour transitions well to the reception and their facilities are updated and classy.
The staff is competent and some of the most polite venue staff I have had the privilege to work with. I would like to specifically give a shout-out to specific staff members who were super polite and made my experience great. Sara is one of the venue coordinators at Toast and was the first person I spoke with over the phone to navigate the event space. Sara was polite, and kind, and was happy to answer all of my questions - you can really tell she loves her role at Toast! Kacie is the current intern at Toast and was checking in with me throughout the evening to make sure the bride and groom had a wonderful event. The bartending staff, specifically Christina and Karl were the first staff members I met when arriving, and they greeted me so kindly and were really helpful the entire evening. The other members of the bartending staff Dylan and Marshall were also great and polite as well.
Again, Toast is a wonderful venue with great staff. If you are looking for a beautiful venue with outstanding people that is close to the Des Moines metro, I think you have found your place. Thanks for making my...
Read moreWe held our June 15, 2024, wedding at Toast and overall we would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful space in which to get married and party afterwards!
Truthfully, our lone complaint was that prior to the wedding, communication with the venue had its ups and downs. For example, my wife scheduled a meeting with the venue, drove 2.5 hours to attend the meeting in-person, and was informed that the meeting was "never confirmed," and as a result had to wait a couple hours for the meeting to eventually take place.
Outside of that, our guests raved about how beautiful the space was, and we were thrilled with how everything turned out on our big day. Such a...
