Randomly discovered this place on Instagram. We came with low expectations because I've never had a good macaron in the US...but, I was completely blown away!
The macaron shells had the perfect meringue texture with crisp outside and chewiness inside. The fillings were absolutely delicious and tasted like the actual fruit/flavor they're supposed to emulate. I really love the special flavors they release for holidays like the Bomb Pop flavor for July 4th. It tasted just like the actual popsicle! The macaron fillings here are also not overly sweet which most American bakers tend to do. Whatever they're doing here, they're doing it right!
After living in France and eating macarons all over the region, I can definitely say (without a doubt) that these are my favorite macarons in the entire US. I travel a lot and buy them wherever I go so I have a lot to compare them to. I don't even like sweets but I get a box of these every weekend. They are so well-done and bring back good memories of living overseas. Their drinks are also really good! We usually get the coconut matcha latté with dalgona. The wheel of fortune they have sometimes is also fun. We got a free macaron and sunflower this last Saturday.
The first time we visited was on a Sunday and they were down to their remaining few macarons. We visited again a week later, first thing in the morning on Saturday when they first put out their macarons which are only available on the weekend and there was a line wrapping around the mall. Every Saturday since then has been like that. With a line forming before they open at 11am on Saturday and going down past 4 stores.
I'm so glad that they're doing well and are moving to a nice brick and mortar location in Ankeny cause there's really nothing else that would bring me to Valley West Mall. Their success is well-deserved! The owner's sister also hosted a pop-up açai bowl event this past weekend and gave away free samples. They were delicious! I hope to see her open up shop or incorporate into Good...
Read moreIf you haven't visited Good Day DSM, you really should! I can't say enough about this delightful shop. The owners and their staff are always helpful and kind. But now, let's talk about their macarons and their specialty drinks. Both food and drinks are SO GOOD AND FLAVORFUL! I have not had one item that has disappointed. I especially love that they can create custom orders. I have designed custom macaron towers for my niece's bridal shower, baby shower and last minute birthday party favors. I'm a graphic designer and Anna was able to use my artwork files and place them directly onto the macarons. Anna was able to make that vision come to life every single order!
Their flavors are amazing, but not overly rich or too sweet. The bite of the macaron is light and perfect! If you enjoy coffee the Vietnamese iced coffee is a winner and a must try. Chef's kiss. Yum!
I can't recommend or thank Anna and Tristin enough for being around in the Ankeny community. If you're reading this, stop by. You won't regret...
Read moreEverything about Good Day is darling. I stopped in with my husband on a Saturday after seeing how cute it looked online, and it lived up to every expectation and then some. What I wasn’t expecting was how incredibly kind everyone on staff is—they truly go out of their way to make our day better every time we visit. The macarons are delicious, I’ve yet to have a flavor I didn’t adore. They’re the perfect mid-day treat, and they even provide instructions for how to keep your macs fresh if you’re taking them on-the-go. Good Day is a bit of a drive for us, but their coffee drinks, hospitality, and attitude make it a must-visit for us at least once a week. So happy to have such a unique and delightful place...
