Let me just start off by stating we have only GREAT things to say about Magee’s! Truly a favorite place of ours! My husband and I just got married in the King’s Head Room a week ago (ceremony and reception both) and we could not have had a better experience, it was just perfect! We had dined there a couple of times or so prior to the wedding per recommendation from a family member, and we’re so grateful for it because it brought us to a place that created lifelong memories for us! We loved our first visit so much by the way, you genuinely can’t wait to go back! And once we heard about the event room next door, we were sold! The atmosphere really is such a vibe - so cozy from the lighting to the music, and so CLEAN! To add to that, you can’t beat the location, the district is a really beautiful area..like wow! Last but not least, the menu is phenomenal, and all of our guests agreed that the food was chef’s kiss, and I must say very reasonable too..I can’t wait to try the fish and chips next time! What we chose for meal choices: Boneless Pork Ribeye, Chicken Pot Pie, Shrimp pasta, and Bangers & Mash - that’s a delicious menu right there, and then for apps we had the Bushmill meatballs (literally the best I’ve ever tasted) and then they put together a lovely charcuterie spread accompanied by a couple veggie trays, and everything was a hit! The manager we had the pleasure of working with was Trevor, and the owner Andy was wonderful as well..they had the details organized down to a T, and while timing doesn’t always go according to plan for things like this, Trevor and the staff handled it with grace - they kept calm and professional, and maintained the flow very nicely - we can’t thank everyone involved enough for their kindness, patience, and dedication to making the night the best it could be! We will be back time and time again, and highly recommend this amazing establishment to ALL! Thank you SO...
Read moreDid not have a good experience today. Our server barely came to our table to check on us or ask us how anything was going. I noticed she did go check on all of the other tables quite often. We had a party of 9, we had ordered the lamb, 4 burgers, 2 soups (the seafood soup) and the asparagus fries. First off the soup was not good. Myself and another person had gotten the soup as their meal, the other person finished the soup but did say it wasn’t very good but I was not able to even eat 2 spoons since it was so bad. For an $11 soup it was so disappointing. Another person ordered the asparagus fries ($10) and had said the asparagus was extremely hard (like the ends of the asparagus that people generally cut off) and they ended up just bitting the breading off and leaving the asparagus. I brought these both up to the server. At first when I asked if I could switch the soup out, she seemed like she was pretty annoyed I was wanting something else. She was extremely rude to us. Some of the things she said weren’t rude, it was the way she asked us. She asked if we had anything else to complain about when I told her the food was not good. When she brought us the bill she told me “they tasted the soup back there and said it was the way it’s suppose to be so we only took off half” (even though I did not even eat much of the soup) Then for the fries she had said that they had gotten the asparagus from a different vendor and know it’s not up to par so they took half off the bill. It was extremely condescending to say they know it’s not up to par but still decided to serve it in the first place. It’s a shame our experience was not good because the others that had the burgers and the lamb actually had good things to say about them but this experience just made us never want...
Read moreFound Magee's while searching for a place to stay for the eve. We needed to fill our bellies so a bit of authentic Irish fare was just the ticket. Magee's offers a warm atmosphere and the staff were great. Very attentive and friendly. We certainly felt as though we were welcomed and valued. We started our eve with an Irish brew of which they have a large selection. Didn't partake in an Irish whiskey but the selection is extensive. They've a menu filled with many authentic Irish cuisine options. We had a party of eight so we were able to sample many different apps/small plates. The three I enjoyed most were the scotch egg, the Irish poutine and the Rueben Eggrolls. My large plate consisted of the Shepard's pie. If you look up "Irish hearty comfort food" I'm certain you will see a picture of this entree. I also got to try my girlfriends Fish and Chips and I would put their fish and chips right near the top of the list of best fish and chips I've ever had. Very good! My buddy had the Guinness dip and couldn't stop raving about how good it was. After a few more brews we ended the eve with an espresso martini and it did not disappoint. Perfect end to a terrific night! So I was just gonna end my review here but I have more to add! We came back the next morning for bottomless bloodys and brunch. I chose the Ploughman's scramble and an Irish potato boxty as my notes to end on! Every aspect were great and couldn't ask for anything better. Try this place and it won't leave you...
