I came here late afternoon as part of a BART-station-safari from the city. I made several stops at local watering holes, and this was the only one that was devoid of comfy patina and chatty regulars. For the most part, the entire place had a feel of "nouveau casino" to it. The place was clean, and the barkeep was attentive and polite, but the locals were guarded and difficult to make eye contact with. Of all the places I went, it had the best ratio of seemingly-available women to single men.....but my instincts told me to keep to myself and avoid engaging. TV's are sizable and we'll placed....if you want to watch a sporting event in a public place, this is it in Antioch! There's a pool table to the side, and something that looks like a card-room (i.e., gambling area) further over. Music was "classic rock" and a bit loud for mid-day. Overall? A nice place to visit if you're into a certain scene....but this scene made me a bit uneasy. Spotlessly clean, but devoid of character. Nice barkeep, but odd patrons. I've been a bar person all my life, and when I get a certain weird feeling I know it's time to split. I didn't get that feeling anywhere else in Antioch, but I felt it here. Call me overly sensitive or a bit on the urban side... But it's the vibe I got. I get the feeling that it would have felt different if I brought a date....but this wasn't in the cards. Not a bad place to show up as a couple, but awkward as an unescorted male. My...
Read moreWorst casino experience of my entire 18 years gambling. Least hospitable ca$ino host I’ve ever witnessed. Never offered us drinks and refused to change our money for a $5 bill albeit the machines only take a min of $5. If I had known the crabby immature rude hostess was going to deny my fifteen dimes and six quarters plus three dollar bills for a tease of a $5 bill I would have never got my last $20 out of the ATM. Not only was the disenchanted hostess a real tight wad when it came to making change (which is literally one the jobs only roles to satisfy) the machines were dusty oily and generally dirty. I would recommend LITERALLY ANY OTHER CASINO In Montana than the 19th hole casino and lounge. Save yourself the hassle and especially the money by skipping this putrid gaming experience. Oh yeah but I did win $18 off half my total spend so I didn’t leave empty handed in-fact I left the dirty rotten hole in the wall with more money than I came with thanks to the missy not changing my $5 for a $5 bill. No drinks No change No service would be my motto for the 19th home. I’m wondering if it’s because I’m of Hispanic origin that I was treated this lackadaisically or if the hosts treat their regulars the same way No drinks No change No service or if it’s all charm drinks change and service for the hill billy...
Read moreLove this place and hope it grows more! But needs improvement in certain areas.
The good!
Staff & people! Everyone is nice and the dealers are willing to explain the rules
Very beginner friendly, would recommend for people who aren’t crazy deep in poker and want to have a nice friendly game
Tournaments are awesome! Lots of people
The bar. Duhhhhh
Needs improvement:
conflicting information on the website, phone & in person for games info, buy in cost, tournament structure and the game/house rules are not always clear.
Cash chips are really old/dirty. Tournaments chips are even older.
Usually only two tables are running for the tournaments. If you come late, you won’t play since it’s a long waitlist and buy in is only up to the break. I understand finding staff is difficult for this.
Tournaments are like super fast. 10min levels, blinds going up are crazy jumps also. The last 20min of the tournament isn’t really poker anymore, it’s gambling. It seems like they do this to make the game end by 3-3:30, but a tournament that was slightly longer or less blind jumps...
