Over 55 years ago this is where I took swimming lessons, then lifesaving lessons. Back then the water was clear, there was a sandy swimming area and a dock where we gathered for the lessons. This was a city organized summer program for kids in the area. About thirty years later I stopped by out of nostalgia and was saddened to see that the park had been shut down due to pollution; it was overgrown behind a locked chain link fence and I could see the water was pea green.
