Arthur Pack Regional Park — Attraction in Arizona

Exceptionally well maintained park. Shaded playground, picnic areas, basketball court, several fenced grassy baseball and soccer fields. Wonderful place to walk a dog with large trees providing shade around perimeter of fields. Our dog loves to romp in the grass and the fences could allow her to be off leash. I previously rated the park five stars but have changed it to 4. That is because the county now has posted signs threatening severe penalties for owners of dogs who are allowed to be off leash. That is very disappointing, no doubt a result of thoughtless people who do not pick up after their dogs or who allow potentially vicious dogs to be off leash. It is a shame that grassy areas totally fenced and unused during the vast majority of daily hours, cannot allow dog owners to close all gates and let them run freely in the grass. Nice park without the emenities of a walking, jogging, bicyling path. It's parking is lacking and we do miss the prairie dogs that used to be so abundant. In all this park serves a broad community that we've come to love for the past 20 year's. The reason I'm giving 4 star's is like I said it could use more parking and I'm not talking about the baseball fields side, although they are a part of the problem by parking in the park section, that's the part I'm referring to needing more parking, their is a shared parking on the NW side of the park for high school and golf and sports, now it's to far a walk when you have babies in tow just to take them for a half hour of fun. This is a relatively simple but large and spacious park. Almost all of the park's land is dedicated to sports fields. Football, baseball, soccer, baseball and basketball fields/courts take up probably 85% or more of the total area. There are paths that individuals like myself use for walking or jogging, and there are a few other things like a new dog park section that are here as well. It is extremely well lit and has 2 separate parking lots. The overall feel and atmosphere is good and everything seems well maintained. Not a great park for kids to play at if they are looking for jungle gyms or things of that nature. Otherwise a...
