I travel a lot and this is the SHADIEST hotel I've ever encountered! I even had to file a police report and will soon file another. Over a month and they've still failed to return my Apple Watch stolen by one of their employees!
UPDATE: After filing a police report and reporting this to corporate, they returned the watch a MONTH later, still without an apology, with my name spelled completely wrong of course, and COMPLETELY SMASHED UP!
Guess court is the next step. DON"T STAY HERE!!
I accidentally left my Apple Watch at this hotel, on a standing charger, on the stand between the two beds. It was out in the open and the next person in the room (likely the housekeeper) would see it immediately.
Of course then, the right thing to do would be to telephone the most recent occupant of the phone (me) and let me know they had my watch.
Instead, though I called twice, a few hours after I left the room and then again the next day, the hotel denied having it altogether.
Then 2.5 months later, I was notified by Apple's "Find My" feature that my watch was had been turned on and was at a home in Maryland. I very quickly found that that home that of one of the hotel's employees. And the employee obviously knew it was my watch because when turned on it displayed my "please return" message and my phone number.
Because I'm way too nice, I tried to contact the employee at first, so I could retrieve the watch without her potentially losing her job or having the police involved. When that failed, I contacted the hotel.
To make a long story shorter, I notified the hotel of this 3 WEEKS AGO. They supposedly retrieved the Apple Watch from the employee shortly thereafter and though I was notified by the hotel that they had the watch and have telephoned and emailed to have them simply fedex the watch to me, they have failed to do so while (until today) ignoring my attempts to reach them.
They've also, despite numerous opportunities, failed to apologize. In fact, the hotel's response - via the Human Resources person was "well, everything happens for a reason" (and the reason, per this person, was that it gives the hotel a chance to improve their internal systems). Not once in nearly three weeks now has anyone from the hotel offered an apology for having STOLEN my watch.
The Arlington Hilton Garden Inn continues to be in possession of my STOLEN property and refuses to return it.
I've now filed a police report which I guess I should have done originally. I will soon file another specifically against the HR person who admitted having my stolen property but has failed...
Read moreWe stayed for 5 days/4 nights. Mattress and bedding were comfortable and clean however the fitted sheets did not fit well and repeatedly came off the mattress just by rolling over.
The temperature was perfect and kept very cool during 95 degree days.
The handle to the room was a bit stuck, not easy to open.
Our view was another building, so no “view” per se.
The carpet area by the ac is moist, which makes me wonder about potential mold.
Housekeeping only came once. They did not actually clean- just took the trash out. We had to ask for more towels several times. We had to ask for more shampoo. We had to ask for coffee pods. Zero initiation from the staff for providing customer service or anticipating guests’ needs.
The last two days had no tv- the cable was out. We were hoping to watch the Olympics in the evenings after being at the national mall and visiting DC all day. And we were unable to do so. After the second day of no television, we brought it up to the front staff, who then provided us with a voucher for a free breakfast. We knew that the restaurant downstairs was fairly expensive so we thought this was a nice thing offered.
On our last morning, we went down to breakfast and no one explained how anything worked with the vouchers. When we did find the server, she said we can order from the menu or buffet. We ordered from the menu. My kids and husband said the pancakes tasted plain, like a box mix. They came with berries on top which was not advertised and my husband is allergic. He removed the top pancake with the berries and luckily able to eat the rest. I had the breakfast sandwich which was not great, the bread was hard and dry. The server did not offer drinks- we had to ask and she did not refill. She did not refill coffee until we got up to leave. She was frankly rude, but appeared understaffed and maybe thought since we were voucher people, she wouldn’t get a tip. We left her one anyways.
All in all, not the worst, not the best. I thought the Hilton brand was supposed to come with amazing customer service. It was not delivered whatsoever. I guess the price was right- just be prepared for a meh experience.
You are within walking distance of several restaurants. We have 10 and 13 year olds. We found meals everyone enjoyed. We felt safe walking back to hotel after dinner each evening (around 8pm).
Side note- the location is great. Our ride shares from our hotel to dc for all the museums varied $6-12, which was more affordable than public...
Read moreThis is a truly great hotel, more than just a place to sleep between tourist stops or business meetings.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a place to stay in Arlington, with super easy access to the Courthouse metro, only 2 stops to DC. There’s tons of great places nearby- restaurants, bagel shops, stores, a movie theater, a weekly farmers market.
The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and taken care of. For example- I received a phone call late at night from the front desk- the staff member going off shift noticed a light was on in my car in the parking garage and called back to the front desk to make sure they told me. That above-and-beyond move saved me from finding a dead car battery at 6am when I left for my hospital shift the next morning.
I am a clean freak and typically bring my own pillows into hotels but I didn’t need to, the room was super clean, the sheets were soft, I even looked for the name of mattress before leaving for future reference. The rooms have mini fridges and microwaves which is really convenient if you’re not trying to eat out for every meal.
The amenities were super well taken care of- there a patio in the back with lounging furniture and a pergola, great for happy hour or reading hour. The gym was really nice- clean, and has free weights, treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. There's a fireplace in the lobby, I would go down there to do work sometimes, and after I commented how much I loved the fireplace, Concierge Benzina would turn it on for me every time I came down. There's a little market in the lobby too, with quick meals, snacks, some essentials (like ibuprofen, mini sewing kit, tums, etc), and cold drinks- including alcohol. I was in a rush and realized I needed to print something- the business center was super easy to login and use, my print was free.
I used their laundry room, which takes quarters, and at one point I had an issue but they fixed it super quickly and their on-site handy man even hand-delivered me a small packet with my quarters, and some extra, for the trouble.
This hotel and their employees are the epitome of top-notch customer service. So thank you to Neil, Benzina, Philip, Jasmine, and everyone else who made my stay...
