We led a bus tour with some of Abbie Gardner's relatives traveling with us, and the Dickenson County Preservation employees were great to work with. We planned this in advance, as it was during their off season in March, but they understood our desire to honor the victims on the 160th anniversary of the massacre and relief expedition. We were surprised by the employees who had opened the visitors center and provided more to our travelers on the bus tour than expected. We appreciated their extra efforts for such a special event! The Docents were still snow birding, so we had young people who were rangers at other preserves in the county welcome us....

You can learn a bit about the history of the area that most people have no idea about whatsoever.
