The vibes staying at The Inn Hotel in Okoboji, Iowa were perfection. The perfect blend of modern and vintage. The location was great with stores and restaurants all within walking distance. It also has a rooftop outdoor pool to spend the afternoon. Can’t wait to go back! • • • #boutiquehotel #okobojiiowa #lake #girlstrip #travel

Had read many good reviews about this hotel so was looking forward to a great experience. I did not have the experience I expected. Good location, solid property lacking in service and somewhat “tired” facility which needs some maintenance/ upkeep (see photos). Specifically, despite the $350 nightly price and 2 night minimum stay, your room will not be serviced unless you arrange beforehand. We made that arrangement to little avail. Our room “service” included 2 new towels and a modest attempt at making the bed. Little, if any attempt, was made to straighten the room, replace the in-room coffee service, empty the trash or remove the used towels. When I approached the front desk to ask them to correct the poor room servicing, I was told “oh, I’m sorry, I’ll let housekeeping know…”. I asked that they let the GM know and was told “…the GM resigned yesterday…”. All in all, poor value for the money, lackluster service, poorly trained staff and an absent leadership structure. Likely, much better service, energy and value for the money nearby.

We actually went to the Inn's in-house restaurant, The Tavern. We tried two of their dishes. My wife had the Chicken Parmesan which she considered to be excellent. I tried the Shrimp and Grits. I expected the Shrimp and Grits to look, feel and taste like what I had gotten used to when I lived in North Carolina and other places in the Southeast. I'm not sure what influenced the chef in this case but the grits were buried under a roux/espagnole, that was too large a portion (see my photo) and had way too many peppers and onions. A simple roux is the best I think. The shrimp tails were okay but also mixed into the roux. We also tried their Poached Pear dessert. It was served with Pistachio Gelato. The pear was a little tough but the Gelato was very tasty. The service was great. We were seated very quickly and our drinks came very fast also. We each tried a house Caesar Salad that was served in a wedge. We will be back to try other menu items as they maintain some of the great dishes from the old Ciao Boji restaurant like the Chicken Parmesan.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We had a TERRIBLE experience with the Inn for our wedding. I’m not sure where to even start. We booked a block of rooms months prior to our wedding date. Dozens of phone calls, meeting in person several times, and tons emails back and forth would lead us to think everything would be squared away for our time at the Inn. We confirmed 4 different times about welcome bags with for our wedding guests with multiple employees. We stopped in person 3 times to discuss them and request they be handed out. Keep in mind we had over 40 rooms booked for our wedding and made close to 50 bags for our guests. Multiple staff members assured us the welcome bags would be handed out when our guests checked in. It wasn’t until very late the night before our wedding we discovered none of our welcome bags were handed out. We had over 10 different rooms check in that night. None received a welcome bag. That’s the least of our problems we had with the Inn Hotel. 3 different people in our wedding or family were given keys to rooms ALREADY OCCUPIED. Our groomsmen walked in on a man sleeping who was already a guest at the hotel and not associated with us. Our bookings got messed up terrible and there were not enough beds for the amount of people supposed to be sleeping in one room. Example: we booked a room with 2 queen beds for our bridesmaids to sleep in. We had 4 people supposed to be sleeping in that room. They gave us a king suite instead then charged us more for it, which again, we didn’t ask for in the first place. This lead to the MOTHER of the bride not having a place to sleep the night of the wedding. She ended up having to drive somewhere else and stay with other people. When the bridesmaids tried to check in, they were not let into the room we had previously booked for them and paid for . The staff demanded her credit card and tried to charge her for the room we already paid for. Blame was constantly being put on other people and no one owned up to the mistakes made. Things that were specifically stated in the contract we signed were not held up on the Inn Hotel’s end. It was said several times that the ownership had recently changed which made it seem that was the problem. I sure hope things get figured out before the summer rolls around. We will not be recommending the Inn Hotel to anyone. It is such a cute hotel which is a shame because I would double think before staying there, especially booking a block of...

DONT DO IT

I am so sad to write this review. But how this place has anything over two stars is absolutely astonishing.

I grew up going to old versions of the renowned Inn at Okoboji and when my partner surprised me with a getaway here I was so excited to re-live my childhood vacation memories and show her around the town.

Unfortunately the Inn not only doesn’t live up to its old reputation, but it doesn’t even live up to the reputation of some 89.00 a night motels I’ve stayed at.

The common area when you check in is beautiful and the room decor is expertly curated. We stayed in a suite and it was large and beautiful. Unfortunately that is where the compliments end.

When we went to check in at 3:45 after driving all day the front desk lady rudely quipped “checkin is at 4,” pointed at a computer printer paper printed sign and went about her business. When I went back up at 4:00 she said she hadn’t heard back and we continued to wait until 4:30

The room was not clean, leftover food items and trash in the fridge and cabinets, and baseboards peeling off the walls or missing.

Due to the large size of the room on night two the AC froze over and didn’t work the rest of our stay. The front desk did unplug the fans they were using at the front desk to give them to us, but informed us they were aware that it happens and they have to hire people come fix them regularly (telling me they know it’s a problem. And continue to ignore it or limp the problem along)

The staff are incredibly stingy with the tiniest hotel soaps I’ve ever seen. I had to ask the front desk for towels and soaps and they didn’t have any and told us to fill out a sheet, but housekeeping had already been by, so it never came that day. Literally no hotel I’ve ever stayed at has been so stingy and difficult to get towels and soap from.

One morning I got in the elevator and one of the cleaning staff was wearing pajamas, fuzzy pink flip flop sandals, and vaping in the elevator. I thought, “surely this is a guest….” Nope. It was one of their Cleaning staff. (Can’t make this stuff up folks)

I expect more out of a hotel charging this much and am so disappointed. Please, please, please, don’t risk it just for the nostalgia of staying at The Inn. You legitimately couldn’t pay me to stay here again, and the hotel clearly needs all the staff fired, and new management brought in that will instill a culture of hospitality that is sorely missing...

My family had a great experience with the hotel and all it's staff from the beginning to end. We are completely grateful and humbled for how much they went above and beyond for us. We had a couple unexpected circumstances that happened and some of the hero staff members really came through for us! After checking out and leaving, first my young daughter noticed she lost a little cat pin she loved, we were still in town so went back to the hotel to look, the GM Summer J. was so nice and helpful to them they ended up finding it and my daughter was so happy it really made her day. Then that evening after a long drive home I realized I lost one of my diamond stud earings out of my ear. After panicking and just being completely devastated that's it's probably gone forever, I decided to call up to the hotel which was after midnight and reached a very nice over night staff member named Christian K. He looked to see if our room was already turned over and it wasn't, he offered to go up to the room himself and look to see if he could find it and he would call me back. Just after a short time he called me back with the amazing unexpected news that he actually found it, noting it wasn't easy but he did! I am beyond grateful for his efforts with this. He assured me it was in good hands, he would pass it on to his next staff Member in the morning named Jen, which would get it to the GM to get it back to me. After talking with the GM Summer J. myself this morning she again was extremely nice and helpful assuring me it would be in the mail today! We can't thank Summer, Christian and Jen enough for everything they did to get this safely back to me! We love this hotel and fully recommend them for not only a great comfortable, affordable and clean stay but the staff was amazing all the way down to the girls who noticed we were swimming and made sure there were warm towels waiting for us when we got out, and brought out more donuts for breakfast so we could have some too and made sure the coffee pot was still lit and warm for coffee. Thank you all so much! You have no idea how much this really...
