Adventurous Date Day: Indoor Skydiving and Gigantic Desserts 🪂🍦

We had an absolutely unforgettable experience at iFly thanks to Brock and the incredible team. Our daughter is autistic, and trying new activities can sometimes be overwhelming for her, but from the moment we arrived, Brock and the staff went above and beyond to ensure she felt safe, seen, and supported. Brock took the time to connect with her on her level, explaining every step of the process with patience and kindness, never rushing, and always checking in to make sure she was comfortable. The entire team created such a calm, welcoming environment that allowed her to build trust and confidence, and when she finally flew, the joy on her face was indescribable. It was more than just an activity; it was a deeply meaningful moment for our family. Brock’s attentiveness, empathy, and genuine care made all the difference, and we can’t thank him and the team enough for turning a simple experience into a lifelong memory. We left with full hearts and a daughter who felt like a true superhero. Thank you Brock and the iFly staff at One Loudon!

Our nephews were visiting from PA and we brought them to iFly to celebrate my one nephew turning 13, who is visually impaired. Although he was excited to try something new, it was hard for my nephew to understand the concept of iFly and was nervous he wouldn't be able to do it since he would not be able to see the demonstrations and hand signals. Joel, at the front desk, was super helpful when we needed to adjust our reservation and was very kind when talking with my nephew about his concerns and reassured him the instructor would help with everything. Dustin was the instructor and he was absolutely amazing with both nephews, in addition to the other kiddos in their group. Dustin provided my nephew with modified signals (squeezing of arms or legs) so he knew what to do and was very encouraging each flight. He also gave me nephew ear plugs just in case it was too loud for him. All the instructors we encountered were friendly. Highly recommend! Both nephews are excited to come back.

Group experience was good for some, not others.

A group of 14 of us went in late December 2018. Our experience was good for some, but not so good for others. At least 3 members of our party were given helmets that did not fit well, and their experience was awful. The glass part covering the eyes either pushed back in some cases, or rattled terribly in other cases. My sister-in-law and another woman both immediately tried to leave the flying cage once they realized there was a problem, and the instructor (Jacob) handled it extremely poorly. My poor sister-in-law kept pointing to the door (feeling a nosebleed beginning), but the instructor refused to let her return, and eventually manhandled her to the webbed floor. Eventually, they turned off the air and let her out, but it was an extremely scary situation for us (and all the other waiting guests) to watch, and scary and humiliating for her to experience. The instructor then got her a helmet that was better fitting (the kind the instructors themselves use). Then the same thing happened with another woman in our group, though this time the instructor had learned his lesson and let her stop immediately. (And then got her another of the full helmets). Then it was my 7-year-old's turn. His experience was also painful, with the eye piece rattling against his face as the wind buffeted him, but they did not get him a replacement helmet (maybe they didn't have a child size of the good ones). He did his second flight, but did not enjoy that one either, and does not wish to return. (Unfortunately, he hurt the feelings of his aunt who had arranged and paid for this family event when he told her he didn't like it.) On the subject of our instructor, I do not think he was among the better ones. I saw the instructor for the group after us having their party practice putting up their arms in the appropriate position, and reviewing the hand signals with them a few times (you can't hear anything while in the wind tunnel). Jacob didn't do either of those things, and I think consequently, our group seemed not to be as successful flying as other groups seemed to be. A few other things marred our experience -- they gave us some coupons for a free photo or video, but only one of the coupon codes actually worked. And then we discovered that in addition to charging us for my husband's $9.95 "upflight", they had also charged him another $59.95. When we called to dispute that charge, the first person who answered the phone at iFly Loudoun said that it probably should have been charged to someone else in our party, and that we should call around and find out who it was and get the money back from them. We said no, the charge was not authorized by us and you need to reverse it. She declined, and so we asked to speak to the supervisor, who eventually came on and reversed the charge. On the positive side, my husband did enjoy his two, one-minute flights,, and so did several of the other people. But we will not...

If you’re craving a thrill without jumping from a plane, iFly Indoor Skydiving delivers an adrenaline-pumping, ultra-fun experience that’s perfect for first-timers and seasoned flyers alike.

Experience and atmosphere From the moment you step into the wind tunnel, you’re immersed in a high-energy, safety-forward environment. The flight chamber is surprisingly serene despite the powerful breeze, and the whoosh of air instantly signals you’re in for something unforgettable. The vertical wind tunnel creates a gravity-defying sensation that feels like a real skydive, but with all the guidance and safety you could want.

Instructors and safety The instructors are exceptional—calm, patient, and incredibly skilled at translating the thrill into a smooth, controlled flight. They break down the basics with clear, supportive coaching, guide you through your ascent and poses, and provide real-time feedback that helps you push your comfort zone just enough. The safety briefing is thorough, and you feel confident every second you’re in the chamber.

The flight experience You’ll start with a beginner lesson that covers the fundamentals, then you’re off to your flight under the watchful eyes of your instructor. The sensation is both exhilarating and oddly peaceful—the freedom of floating, the rush of air, and the sense of weightlessness all converge into a moment you’ll want to relive. Even a short session feels like a full mini-adventure, and you come away with new confidence and a proud, goofy grin.

Facilities and vibe The facility is clean, modern, and well-organized, with friendly staff guiding you through the process from check-in to gear-up to flight. The viewing areas are great for friends and family to cheer you on, and the overall vibe is upbeat and encouraging rather than intimidating. It’s a perfect activity for a celebration, a date, or a fun solo challenge.

Value and practicality If you’re on the fence, consider it a great value for a unique, memorable experience that teaches a fresh skill in a safe setting. Photos and videos of your flight are a fantastic takeaway, and many packages include a keepsake certificate to commemorate your flight.

Tips for first-timers Book ahead and choose a time with fewer crowds if you’re nervous; shorter wait means more flight time. Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes; breathable fabrics help you stay cool in the chamber. Tie back long hair and remove loose jewelry to avoid interference with helmets and gear. Arrive early for the briefing and to get the most out of your session with your instructor. Capture the moment with a photo or video option—it’s worth the memory.

Bottom line iFly Indoor Skydiving is a thrilling, accessible adventure that makes gravity-defying fun possible for everyone. It’s perfect for celebrating a milestone, bonding with friends, or giving yourself a bold spin of courage and exhilaration. Highly recommend for anyone ready to fly high, even if you’ve never strapped into a...

I went indoor skydiving here this past weekend. It was my second time doing it and the first time in this location. Overall, it was an awesome experience and just so fun! It is up to an hour drive out from where I live which was a bit of a downer, and there ended up actually being a mix-up about my schedule but it ended up working out. The building is nice and new, with contemporary design and nice atmosphere. The manager, Dwight, was helpful and friendly and it wasn't too crowded when I went around 8:00 at night. It was rather hot and stuffy however, but that did not affect my good time. They have snack machines just for your information. My flight instructor, Aiden, was a very personable and really a good teacher and explainer of things, and so was Jason, the operator of the machinery. The equipment and everything was clean and fit fine. My actual flights were very exhilarating, the downside being the only lasted a couple minutes whereas I remembered them being five in the past! And I did do the high fly which is super fun and I would recommend, although I wasn't sure that was what happened initially. And the G- forces of the wind are quite strong and some maybe a bit uncomfortable- you just kind of have to lean into it and Trust- and have your anxiety under check! And just breathe. But overall it's just so worth it. My instructor was trustworthy and had me the whole time. I got to ask to learn some new skills, like moving backward and forward, and he was accommodating:-). It is nice that the instructors give you a show of what they can do in the end, that made it more worth it. But overall $124 for what the experience was and the time I had did seem like a bit too much. There is a return voucher option though that's not necessarily advertised on the website, so make sure you ask the instructors about it and they get commission too. Some kind of regular coupons online but also help. But my main complaint was the fact that they have you sign a waiver that just speaks of greed and selfishness, and just lack of human care- if something happens to someone because if any neglect on one of the workers part or a Machinery failure then you think I fly which makes plenty enough money should want to take responsibility and be able to compensate people in what way they can. So that needs to change. Of course that is quite unlikely. All in all I had a great experience and totally planning on...
