Top Golf Loudoun has been a favorite of mine for an extended time. I was actually at the soft opening many years ago. Recently when I go, I see the facility is in bad shape. Many portions of the turf are ripped up and missing. If your ball hits them, it bounces right, left, etc and unfortunately these destroyed parts of the turf are in front of targets. This is frustrating if you and your friends are being competitive, also it is a real eyesore. This particular visit I needed to use the restroom. The stalls were actually falling over. Meaning you could not use them if you wanted to close the door. The mats you tee off from are constantly cockeyed or crooked also. Seems like you need to put some money back into this location. The food and service are generally fine and the folks are very nice. My issue with the game play is that you pay for a set period of time and most want to actually use that time, as it is much more expensive than the typical driving range. When you have 15 minutes left, the ball dispenser stops dispensing balls, until you realize there is a prompt on the screen you have to acknowledge if you are going to extend or not. Why does it not make a chime sound or alert in some way, versus me looking like an idiot feverishly waving my club for a ball? Then if you select no and re-address your ball, you usually are interrupted again asking if you are going to extend by a staff member. I selected no 10 seconds ago, why are you interrupting me again? Then if you say no and I will be paying through the app, they seem confused, then interrupt you again to say the manager wants you to pay right now then. This most recent visit I had to ask the staff to please stop interrupting us, and allow us to just play our last 15 minutes. This was mid afternoon on a Wednesday. Not packed, no wait list etc. This has happened my last 4 visits. I enjoy the concept, I do not mind paying a bit extra to use the state of the art facility. Just let me get the time I pay for. Other smaller driving ranges have added things like ball tracking and stats, I am more inclined to go to those...
Read moreI left what would have been a very enjoyable time feeling cheated and disappointed.
Upon arriving at 4:30 I was checked in at the front seat and assigned a booth. I asked specifically if the price per hour would be the one advertised for before 5:00 since we stated before then or if it would be the price after 5:00 since we would finish then. I was told it would be the cheaper price advertised before 5:00 since that’s when I would be staring.
Once I got to my bay and signed us all in I was prompted with the time slot selection page. Despite being told I would have the advertise price for 5:00 and before the screen read the price of a game after 5:00. When I asked my waitress about this she said the website was wrong and the prices have just gone up. Which I know was not true, the screens on the first floor read the process I was expecting, the website read the prices I was expecting, and the staff on the first floor expressed I would be charged rhe price I was expecting. Despite all of this I was forced to pay a higher price.
When talking about this my waitress asked if I was military, I told her I am not but I am a teacher which I know gets a discount based on the website information. She was reluctant to give me any “hero discount” but eventually said that we will “make it work”.
We played the games and enjoyed our time when actually golfing. I would go back if it wasn’t for everything else.
After we had finished we got our bill (during our gaming there was a shift change and our waitress changed to another waiter). I noticed there was no “hero discount” so I asked about it. Our waiter was again reluctant though reprinted the bill. We spent $95 ($65 on the game itself) and the “discount” was only $1 despite being advertised as a 10% discount. When I asked my waiter about it he said it’s only on the game which still didn’t make sense.
After paying and leaving we looked back on the experience feeling rather scammed, for a lack of a better term. We were disappointed and felt mistreated.
I enjoyed the games but the rest...
Read moreThis place has been a family favorite since 2015. We have had Birthday parties here, the kids have been to camp, and we enjoy Half Price Tuesday on occasion for some family fun during the week and summer play weekly. Unfortunately, our last visit was the worst we have ever experienced, and it makes me wonder if we need to find some other family-friendly activity to replace going here.
On May 1st, we took our ten year Birthday Boy to celebrate his day. It's a tradition to go on his birthday, and they would always sing Happy Birthday, spell out his name with letter signs, and even bring over a little treat of donut holes. This time they initially placed us at the end of the main floor; we then requested to be moved because we thought it would be awkward for the boys to be able to make their shot since they are used to being center area. They moved to the middle and turned on the heat, for it was pretty chilly outside, rainy and windy. The unit sounded like it was exploding, and we were all frightened. A worker came by and, in an unfriendly manner, said that one does not work, you're not supposed to use it, and proceeded to go into our unit to turn it off and walk away. A manager then tells us the heater is not working and he can move us again.
Meanwhile, the food was coming in, and we opted to deal with it. The manager then says well, if you want to move, let us know, and we will be sure to give you some free time because I know this has been an inconvenience to you and your family. Unfortunately, at check out, he was nowhere to be found. We settled our bill with the waiter and left. My son left quite disappointed in the service and the lack of attentiveness of the staff.
We need to find a new place to make family memories! If I could give it "0" stars, I would. It is nothing like when it opened; the bays look worn, and things are not functioning as they should (it took 10 minutes to get signed in on the machine); the food is just okay, and the service...
