I stopped in Michael's today. I usually shop at Hobby Lobby because it is closer but I happened to be in the area today. I wanted to ask if they had water beads after I had looked for them and couldn't find any. There were absolutely no employees on the floor anywhere. The only employees were 1 overworked cashier(long line) and an employee in the framing dept. I ask the cashier and she said she wasn't sure but I could see that she was far too busy to be of assistance. I picked up 6 rolls of ribbon that were marked down to $1.00 each and got in line. The line did not move at all. Apparently an older lady was paying with a check and this was a BIG DEAL for the cashier. It just went on and on. No one ever came to open another register. I got tired and left. I'm not blaming the cashier. This is a management issue. I will never go in that location again because store is severely understaffed. It was also kinda nasty. The shelves were in somewhat disarray and the floor looked as if it hadn't been swept or mopped in months. There was an apparent cola spill on the floor that had dried to it and stuck sometime in the past. It has a depressing atmosphere. Hobby Lobby is the opposite. It is clean, well stocked, and has enough employees. I will just shop at Hobby Lobby from now on. Michael's was a complete...
Read moreIf it was actually important enough to have these emotions over, I would say that I'm a little sad to only give Michael's a 3. That's because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE craft stores of any kind. I see all the glittering, dazzling, and unique items in stores like this and I want to get my hands on every single thing and become a jill-of-all-trades in the crafting world. However, two things kind of bothered me this visit. 1: My boss was looking for a 3 hole puncher. Sure, they have oodles of single hole punchers that are much more interesting than the boring one we were looking for. But you're telling me crafters don't EVER need a basic hole puncher!? 2: This store is just entirely too expensive! Maybe this is true of all specialty craft stores but there are times in people's lives where they simply need wholesome alternatives to stave off boredom & stay out of trouble and it's just truly sad when it's cheaper to go the unwholesome, troublesome route! (I may be referring to myself but I'm sure I'm not the only one that has just wanted to stay home & do some craft projects, but have not been able to afford...
Read moreOutstanding products! Erica, the manager, was faced today with an arragant Male customer who was shoving ahead of and being rude to a lady customer in front of him. As he was verbally assaulting that lady customer, the cashier Lady tried to intervene. He then started in on her. At that time, Erica (the Manager) stepped in trying to sort out the problem. She knew immediately that this man was the problem. She calmly asked him to not speak to another customer that way. He was totally out of dirt & out of control, his excuse...his son (who was not in the store with him) needed him immediately. In his mind, that was reason enough to butt in front of lady already at checkout. Selfishness rules our society in many forms. But Erica was a lot nicer to him than he deserved. This was at store in Asheville, NC. Erica should be commended for the way she defused the problem. My wife & I will...
