I came in on Monday to get my nails done, originally wanting a full acrylic set. The gentleman doing my nails recommended I get gel-x because it would be better for my nails and last longer so I agreed. Later that night, one of my nails popped off. I went back into the shop the following day and got my nails that popped replaced and the woman fixing it noticed my pinky finger was lifting and fixed that. Today (Wednesday) I have 6 of my nails lifting (noticeable gap between my nail and the gel-x tips) and two that have now popped off so the only nails intact are the ones I had redone on Tuesday. I called the shop today and requested a refund as I live 30+ mins away and do not want to go back another time especially given I had just gotten my nails done on Monday and this is the result. I was originally told I would have to come back in to get it re-done by a different person and denied a refund even though my nails have not held up within a 48 hour period. After talking more with one of the managers (Bea) she told me to call back tomorrow to talk to another manager that could help me. I would not be annoyed if I did not spend almost 100 (with tip) for this service that when the service I originally wanted was cheaper. both of the individuals who did my nails were very nice and I appreciate them, however, for that amount of money I would think the service would be much better than what I got and I would still have all 10 of my nails intact 48 hours after my original service. I will call back tomorrow to address this but based on my conversation with the manager today, I doubt I will get my money back and I could have just went to buy press on nails and done them myself rather than waste 100 dollars for the same quality. The employees are really nice and the shop is beautiful, but the quality of the nail service could use some work/depends on who you go to. I went with my friends to this shop and their nails are still perfectly intact with no problem.

I don't think I've had a worse first experience with a salon ever. I went in 2 days ago as a walk in, got seen pretty quick despite a busy Thursday evening. The receptionist and nail techs were friendly but that's about all the positives. I asked the pedi nail tech to be gentle because my toe nails are sensitive due to surgeries. She was still pretty rough with the sharp tools and cut my nails way too short w/o asking if i wanted them cut. My gel mani wasn't any better. I was unaware I had gel-x on my fingers prior to coming in, I understand that's my fault but the technique for removal was unnecessarily rough. He was scraping the polish off so harshly, and one of my nails broke as a result. No apology. He got the nail drill AFTER scraping all 10 fingers and my nail beds were sore. Made the rest of the mani super uncomfortable. And I was charged 12$ for a take off that was horribly done. Worse still, the black polish had obvious bubbles when I left but I was just ready to pay and leave. It peeled that same night. I went back yesterday morning to get it fixed. He told me my nails weren't under the lamp far enough the first time??? He was still rough taking off the previous polish, same scraping technique and asks if it hurt... I'm only giving 2 stars since it was fixed free of charge but I definitely will not be back. A waste of my $81 honestly, I was not happy with my services at all.

I moved to the Upper Westside area a year ago and tried Sugar out because it's so close to my house and I've been a faithful customer since. Kim is my girl! I never have to correct her on my manicures. She showed me new color combos. Accommodates my hectic schedule. She's very consistent with her work. We actually have good conversations the whole time. I have no notes for Kim. In the event Kim isn't available, I go to my girl Vivienne. Vivienne as well, no notes. They both just get it. For my pedicures I use Ms. Van. Her as well, no notes. She's gentle and careful and her massages are out of this world. The manager Tess is such a IT girl. Very nice, knows me by name. Her style is everything. Vim the other manager is very nice as well. They know me by name and even by voice. I rarely have to give my name or info when I call. They already know when, time, and what lol. I highly recommend Sugar. I also like the receptionist as well. Also, you don't have to get your manicure and pedicure done separately. They do it at once. I literally get both done at the same time and be out within a hour (I get gel) which is very important to me because I'm so busy and don't have time to spend hours and hours in a salon. Great classy environment. Presentable and professional. Book now don't be a loser.

I will NEVER patronize Sugar Polish again —my experience was horrible. I came shortly after they opened this morning for a gel mani and a pedicure. The woman (named Monica) who came over and started working on my manicure had an awful attitude and her work was sloppy. My nails were unevenly shaped and had rough edges, the gel was thick on some of the nails, and there was polish missing on the edge of one of them. When I asked her to put a little polish where she missed on the side, instead of fixing it she proceeded to just file that area of the nail off, and then she went on to her next customer. I had to ask the nail tech who was working on my pedicure if I could borrow one of her nail files so that I could even my nails out myself. No sooner had I gotten home and washed my hands, one of my nails (where the gel polish was too thick) buckled and started to peel. I immediately went back to the salon and asked for it to be repaired. Another woman (who I assumed was the manager) told me it would be fixed. I sat there for 30 minutes until Monica came over —still with her attitude— and started filing off the polish, and reapplying a base coat. She sat my hand under the gel light but pulled it out before the machine beeped to start reapplying another coat. When I asked her was she sure it was dry (or cured) —because that is why my polish buckled in the first place—she was like “What? What are you talking about? It only needs 30 seconds…” She applied 2 coats and then sat it under the light again, and after it beeped, she snatched the machine and snapped “You’re done.” She didn’t bother to clean up the edge of the nail, file it even, nothing. I paid $100 in services, only to get a sloppy gel manicure from a woman with a sh*tty attitude that I had to COME BACK AND GET FIXED, only to deal with her attitude again, as if I was an inconvenience to HER. I told the receptionist as I left that I would never come back here because of this experience— and I told all of my friends -a few who are Sugar Polish regulars, and they won’t be coming back either. Save your money and go...

The experience here is very inconsistent so you might end up with a great experience or a partial great experience or terrible one . I won’t go anymore because I’ve given up on trying to get a great one. I’ve had them use that drill to manicure my cuticles until they bled, I’ve had them aggressively file my nail down for sns to paper thin and painful despite me pretty much begging them not to. TLDR below: mani guy got so pissed at me for asking for a tapered style of nail I asked for and he said he would do. And front of house manager/receptionist was like meh. Insert shrug.

I went for a mani cure specifically an acrylic overlay with gel polish and a gel polish spa pedicure. Pedicure is great the guy is personable and meticulous. The guy doing the manicure? Not so much . I don’t even think he greeted me. I asked him for a ballerina tapered shape he indicated he understood what I wanted which is essentially what I have when I came, he instead started shaping my nails into a coffin shape I reminded him Again with do you mind just tapering ( rounding it ( slightly) this dude proceeded to get almost indignant and incensed with my request. Walks off at point and disappears to the back. Since the same polish was being used on my toes he then became very impatient with the guy doing my toes (I mean the wait for him might have been like 10 seconds) walked off never asked me if I liked my end result, two nails clearly misshapen but he already seemed so mad ( I mean this guy seemed to be heaving with anger) finished mani , walked off never said another word . I had to ask someone else where the bill is what do I do with it. I go to pay expressed to the front receptionist or whatever my exp she just looks at me with the most apathetic sorry I have ever seen or heard. Not once did I ask for a refund or discount mind you, just this is what happened, gave her the facts. Nothing outside of her mouth but the most tepid sorry. Not I’m sorry that happened to you , just like she was telling the wall sorry. Her management of this would have made the biggest impact...
