We like Desta and often go to the Briarcliff Rd. location. The seasoning here tastes better. All of the food is flavored. I love how they get beets and lentils to taste so good. The lamb dishes are all perfect. Restrooms and space is clean and fitting. Great layout for a plaza. With more expensive American eats near, this place fits in nicely.
Sambusa-taste great and the sauce works. Kinda small. Put one more on there and charge $7.
Vegan Platter- perfect portion, taste and price 10/10. It’ll make you want more of the veggie you love.
Pasta-it’s spaghetti with lamb-not pasta like I thought. The Lamb taste quality and the spaghetti flavors were high level, just wasn’t expecting spaghetti. I ate it all-very delicious actually. At $18.50 I was a bit skeptical however there’s a lot of lamb in there which was good.
Ethiopian beer taste like any light beer but at 7.50 is like paying $45 for a six pack that probably costs $11. I know most restaurants charge up for alcohol so this is normal but I’m not a fan.
Foul-delicious beans with fresh toppings
Lamb Pita-Tender, large and Juicy
I don’t like that the teff injera is three dollars more. Wish it was less, if it cost them surely they have to charge us. This neighborhood looks gentrified and expensive, got to pay that rent. Looking at the receipt, I can see how the price went up because of teff injera and beer. My wife ordered an old-fashioned that didn’t come out looking like what we expected so we swapped it for a beer. Maybe certain alcoholic beverages they are new to.
Because of taste, menu options, Service and cleanliness. It was hard to drop them to a four star. I kept it at five star and added suggestions. You can navigate their menu and really get quality taste and food for a good price. Plus, the taste is unique, which is a good break from the typical American food places. I recommend this place and will...
Read moreI’ve always had a soft spot for Ethiopian food, and Desta reminded me exactly why. From the moment I walked in, the warm, aromatic notes of berbere and sautéed onions filled the air—an unmistakable welcome that tells you you’re in for something special.
The menu itself is thoughtfully designed, guiding you through the experience based on how adventurous you’re feeling. It’s the kind of place where first-timers can explore with confidence, and seasoned fans can still find something new to savor. I sampled a few dishes that beautifully balanced earthy lentils, spiced meats, and tangy injera—that soft, slightly sour flatbread that ties every bite together. Each dish felt like a conversation between flavor and culture.
Desta delivers not just a meal, but a moment—one that feels both global and familiar. And now that I’ve discovered there’s a Desta in Dallas, I can’t help but wonder if it shares the same spirit as the Atlanta location. Either way, I plan to find out firsthand, fork (or...
Read moreDisclaimer I've never visited this location in-person. The following review is based SOLELY on personal experience from today's order, 2/18/25, combined with experiences over the past few months ordering via UberEats.
Overall, the ACCURACY of menu items delivered were on point. The reason for the rating I gave regards MISSING i.e. sauces/extras. We all know how a side order of sauce or extra 'something' can potentially ruin a meal which was my case this evening. 😕
I've spent too much money with Desta to continue to tolerate the types of inconsistencies I've experienced. The pricing, flavor, and presentation for any and ALL I've ordered for the past few months has been top tier! But again, my $$ is screaming, "Pay attention! Treat me better!" I love this place and hope that the gatekeeper(s) of customer reviews aren't sleeping at the wheel and aren't dismissing low-score reviews, especially if they relay my same sentiment regarding...
