Granted i have only been a member for a short time but i find myself sitting in an area across from the front desk nearly each day for 15 - 45 min to address text messages, emails, and voicemails that i rec'd while using the facility and i have witnessed not so much as a scintilla of rudeness, condescension, or, DEAR GOD, racism. I have, however, witnessed the staff being most helpful, genuinely kind, patient, and very reasonable to all members and members to be - even in the face of unreasonable, relentless, and, thankfully infrequent, pettiness. All front desk staff are warm and welcoming and responsive to the members. Of particular note are Penny and David, whom, from my observations, offer kindness and consideration to all despite the dispositions of those members they attend to - they are be commended. They are not alone; in time, i am certain that i will see others shine.
The facility is clean, the pool well-maintained, and the lifeguards are at once personable, detail oriented, and attentive. I read a review wherein a person complained of no area for younger members to address their homework. Each day i use the.pool (at different times), and i notice en route to the elevator that the cafe is often a veritable ghost town and thereby seems to be a great spot for such endeavors.
Though i am not at the facility all day every day and cannot attest that there have been no instances of racism, i have, thankfully, not seen an example of bias or prejudice and i can assure reviewers that i would confront such despicable behavior. Tossing out the term "racism" so quickly and capriciously when matters are not resolved to that particular frustrated reviewer's satisfaction is irresponsible and unreasonable. I pray racism does not rear its ugly head here, or anywhere for that matter. In earnest, i hope that people just relax, take a deep breath, and deal with each other with a genuine spirit of fairness. Racism cannot take root where the hearts and minds of those gathered at a given location are genuinely committed to kindness, mutual respect, and fair play. I hope the wonderful diversity i have happened upon in this facility is never tainted by such a sad social cancer as racism. Clearly, i have not been here long so i cannot say there positively have not been incidents of racism, i can only speak about my own observations -- including those where i have seen people angered by situations not being resolved in the manner they expect lash out at staff members whom are merely following policy/protocol. I have observed the term "racism" capriciously misapplied upon numerous occasions. It seems it occurs when a frustrated party wants to effect a blow to end all blows. The use of the word is a deliberate attempt to put the other party at a supreme disadvantage - a very difficult accusation to defend against even if there is honestly - and, Praise be to God, Thankfully - not so much as a scintilla of racism in the staff member's heart or mind. I hope the wondrous diversity i have experienced at this downtown location continues ad infinitum. It is often the best part of my day. We are at our very best when we ice our tempers, suspend judgment, show each other patience and kindness, and just .. simply ... share experiences at a great facility with an attentive,...
Read moreUpdate 1/6/20 I have gone to Sound Yoga with Brian, and I just want to say...what an amazing class that is! He is such a different vibe than your average yoga class. He's a VERY talented musician as well as instructor. I highly recommend it! However.... I feel like you guys need to let more people know you offer it. Maybe some facebook posts? It's such a gem of a class and for some reason when people from my ymca try to go to Attleboro schedule from their Home (Taunton) app, for some strange reason Attleboro doesn't come up! Stoughton, Brockton...all those come up but NOT Attleboro. There is a problem with the app and I keep referring people to that class and inevitably unless I write it down for them, or send them directly to your website, no one can find it. Just an fyi update thank you!
I am a member of the Taunton YMCA, I came here to the Attleboro one to catch a Yoga class. Glad I did! Their mind/body studio is brand new and super nice! The instructor was awesome and the locker rooms are the nicest ones I've ever seen honestly. Very updated. Sauna/steam room is brand new and clean. They even have free lockers here. You make your own pin code and it stays for the day/night. Very convenient. This place is huge and kind of confusing to navigate but everyone that works here is so nice. I like this YMCA better than my own lol its way more upgraded. The parking is kind of tricky bc it seems during the day you have to pay, but I come at nite anyways so I don't have to. Looking forward to Sound Therapy Yoga they have on Thu nites and Sunday mornings. I hear great things about that class and it seems this location is the only one that does sound so...
Read moreThe Attleboro YMCA is the ultimate place to spend time with my family. My daughter is 10 and loves going swimming with her friends, and my son is now old enough to do his own workouts. After school this place comes alive with teens, after school programs, group exercise classes, swim lessons, and more. This place has changed my life. I have a community of people who are supportive and encouraging. This is the place I found friends who became a second family to me and my kids. I love that the programs are all inclusive, if you are a low income family they have programs to help with low income families, there are programs to help with mental, and physical disabilities, there are programs to help with chronic diseases, cancer patients, pre- diabetes programs, leadership programs to guide misguided teens to a better path and many many more programs, not to mention all the great events they hold, healthy kids day, spin-a-thon, rooftop party, fall festival, just to name a few. The. Attleboro YMCA has so much to offer, it’s not just a gym, it’s a cause, for my family, your family, and our...
