These waffles are not like any other waffle I have had. They are more like a croissant than a waffle: buttery, moist, rich, layered-even.
I don’t like traditional waffles, but these I would eat again (though I fear they must have more calories for being so much more indulgent, so I’ll exercise self control).
I had the bacon, fig, ricotta waffle, and I could have done without the bacon and with a little less fig sauce. I was so sad they forgot the basil!!!! I was curious how that would have added to the overall taste, but it was way too crowded and had been too long a wait for me to go back.
I got a burger too, and didn’t like it. They forgot the French sauce and the crispy shallots (they forgot a lot, you can compare their website to my actual meal…doesn’t look at all the same), and it just didn’t taste good. It had some harder bits in it (a lot of burgers do), I didn’t appreciate the flavor of the sauce either.
The poutine however…wow! Delicious! The gravy is thick and chunky, the scallions are crisp, and the fries are perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor beyond just salt (best fries I’ve ever had)!
I also had a Duchess Fog Latte with almond milk, which was so unique! I don’t like Earl Grey tea in general but this was such a curious and exotic taste. I’m glad I tried.
The average meal here is $20. My latte was about $5.
The wait was 40 min or so for a to go order. It was also insanely crowded, and the guys who came in 10 min after me go their food 5 min before me, which I mentioned and the manager apologized and gave me a free item, which I didn’t ask for so that was nice.
They also showed me the ramp, which is to the right of the building, and I’ll be using it in the future as there are a good three steps to enter and they aren’t easy to maneuver with wheels.
The bathrooms are beautifully decorated and the toilets flush easily without kicking back at you, which is good for weak hands.
I didn’t see a rail to hold onto. That’s my only complaint.
I love the quote on the wall and the mission of the place: to explore through food!
I also love that there are practical, current events advertised on the walls,to do just that.
This place is very close to the Attleboro stop, but there is also parking out front (though sparse).
I took my food to a park down the way (3 min drive). Much quieter and calmer atmosphere.
Update: I came back later, and the place was so much quieter and I ordered using the $10 card they gave and tried the Argentinian hot dog. I was blown away! It’s delicious!!!
I appreciate that they saw a mistake and made it better by inviting me back for a better experience. That’s good customer...
Read moreMy go to place for coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and great beer. Downtown Attleboro is lucky that this establishment planted roots here. Menu rotates often, they have a Tuesday beer club, a Thursday trivia night, live music on Saturday evenings and fantastic brunches on Saturday and Sunday. The Sunday brunch often includes a live Jazz band. On Wednesdays, they often open up their kitchen to a local small food vendor and it’s always amazing. The restaurant makes money on the drink orders only, but the food vendor keeps everything with no cut going back to Burgundian. I know this for a fact as it was confirmed by an owner I know who participated one a recent Wednesday night. Between this and the various special days they have(Octoberfest, Ugly Sweater Xmas dinner, plated NY Eve dinner) this joint is all in on uplifting the community. Ownership is great, staff are great and ambiance is great. Lastly, with regard to the infrequent negative reviewers, it’s disheartening to see people trash a local business based on a single visit or a thin skinned perception that a counter person wasn’t pleasant enough. Maybe they caught them in a rare bad moment, it happens, but 99 out of 100 experiences here are going to be great. Finally to the occasional gripes about prices being too high, where have these people primarily dined all their lives? Taco Bell? The pricing is extremely customer friendly. Before adding a couple of higher priced and incredible steak options, EVERYTHING on the menu is under 15. Not sure what other establishments a party of four can go to and have dinner and dessert, along with fantastic beer/wine, plus tip, and walk out spending slightly north of $100. Def closer to $200 at most places. Just a ridiculous critique. Great establishment, and I look forward to going here for...
Read moreVisited on a weekend morning. Place had about half of its available seats occupied. Procedure is order at the counter and take a number to your table, food is delivered when ready. Overall the visit was good . They seem to have a "system" for staff to take orders at the counter, deliver food etc. But it makes the staff feel "detached" from the customers. An example is you get your coffee when you order, take it to a coffee station to add your own cream, sugar etc.. then later if you want a refill there seems to be no way to get one unless you get back into the ordering line and get another one ?? Not completely sure, and that's a problem, its not obvious. My wife had sweet waffles with chocolate and while the waffles are touted as the flagship meals hers were a bit underdone, again with no dedicated server getting that fixed seemed like more work than it was worth. My chicken and waffles were fine albite I could have used another coffee since I drank mine during the wait. Folks also were bussing their own tables at the end, not sure that is "required" or expected of us and it took a couple trips to do it. Not a fan of that. Again, the fact that it is not obvious how to work within their system is a problem. The environment and systems should inform you to the process to make a seamless flow. This was a learning curve with lots of guessing. I would like to try the lunch item so it is possible we...
