Ace Hardware — Attraction in Austin

I drove to this Ace Hardware store from Pflugerville, TX. I honestly wish we had one in Pflugerville. However, needless to say we don't. LoL

This store is very spacious and laid out well. It's not as big as some of the ones I have been to. But again the shopping aisles are decent size and their barbecue area is on point.

My biggest reason for coming to Ace Hardware stores was my experience at an Ace Hardware store from my home town in Fort Worth, TX while visiting with my father for his birthday. They carry all the B&B products for my grill needs. That is my biggest reason why I shop here now and I believe this will be my Ace Hardware store I will be shopping at since the layout is perfect.

But not only is the layout perfect, the staff and management are so friendly. I had a question about the B&B hickory wood 1.25 cubic foot bags. They had the post oak 1.25 cubic bags in stock but I noticed not the hickory. The manager assisted me and told me he could get them in stock upon request. Also told me in the future to order before Sunday if I wanted it the next week.

When I lived in Ann Arbor I always went to ACE for my hardware needs including for getting key copies made. But, this ACE guessed wrong about what key style I had (I just had a basic housekey, but they guessed some strange-shaped master key that was wrong), and also did a bad job of keying the new keys - they literally don't turn in the locks, even if you press against the door or hold the handle. When I held the key copies up against the original key, the jigs and jags are not even the same shape as my original - I don't know how it was possible to do such a bad job of copying my keys. You know, the ones you went to with your grandpa as a kid where you could find what you needed to get the job done without wandering endless aisles for hours? And do you like being able to find help when you need it by people who know what you need and if it’s in stock?

If so, this ACE is for you! I have been in here several times now and each time I have walked away with exactly what I needed and it didn’t take a whole afternoon.
