Austin Oaks Church — Attraction in Austin

One super unique thing about this church is that they have a special ministry for kids with special needs... (from mildly to severely disabled). They really care about families that often can't come to church because of their child who is Autistic or their child who is requires medical attention. So they have a special volunteer just for that child on Sunday mornings so the parents can worship in peace and fellowship with other adults. A few times a year they have a day out for the parents too where they drop the kids off at the church where they get to play or watch movies while the parents can go out and enjoy a date, or have some good alone time, or get some chores done. :) Its really a unique thing that I...

Austin Oaks has been an influential part in my life as it’s where I’ve established most of my life-long friendships and community and come to know Jesus better. No matter what circumstance I’ve been in throughout my life, there have always been people here to point me to Jesus. I also love being a part of Nueva Vida (the hispanic ministry) where I’ve been encouraged and challenged to grow even more in my faith. If you ever do visit, I hope that you will find deep, meaningful community as I have.

This review is mainly for Nueva Vida (the Hispanic congregation that is part of Austin Oaks). I’ve been to several churches throughout the years but finally found my home here. The people are soo friendly and kind. I’ve never felt judged by anyone. I’m heavily tattooed and a single mom of 2 kids who had a crazy past and unfortunately I have had bad experiences at church before. This community has embraced me and my daughters with open arms. I have made great hopefully lifelong friendships with some of the ladies here. Pastor Omar is kind and humble and his sermons are applicable to daily life.
