Amazing Golf Experience.... the course is no frills "what you see is what you get". No clubhouse, no cart rentals, no refreshments and it hardly even matters. The course is in pristine shape. There are 3-4 holes (3, 4, 6, 9) that are absolutely incredibly unique golf holes and all holes are challenge for anyone at any skill level. The highlight is hole 6, a 450 yard Dogleg left Par 5. Unlike anything else in Austin.
The setting is a whimsical mix of Pinehurst and Central Park in NYC. The history of the course is precious in Texas and American Golf history being the oldest course in Texas and the site where Harvey Penick tutored so many greats of the game as the former Austin Country Club. Mike Wooldridge was present to greet me with a friendly face and give me fantastic insight into the course. All for under $15....
One nitpick is the Greens rolled very slow, 15 minutes on the putting green prior is absolutely necessary.
I will absolutely be back but dont tell anybody because this is Austin Golfs Best...
Read moreI don’t golf, but I do use the trail at the Hancock golf center every morning when I go out for my daily walk. They have a nice soccer field you can use, the parking is located on 41st st. Nice views of the downtown from far away, and you can see the UT tower too.
Update: Very beautiful golf course in Austin, Texas. They have a track by the side of the golf course, they also have some sidewalk that goes right through the golf course. A lot of trees, and hills. If you’re not into golf, I recommend you come here during sunset when there’s not a lot of golfers and have a look at the beautiful view. Totally off-topic, but if it ever snows again in Austin, this is a great spot to come with a slay, floaty, or anything that’ll help you slide down the hills. I remember the one day it snowed, we came here, and it was the best...
Read moreThis was my first course and I had a ton of fun. Everyone ahead of us and behind us were super friendly. The GC marshal was very polite and ensured we had a great time. There are some very scenic views such as the pond and green at hole 4 (pic attached). Only 9 holes and it's not challenging. Perfect for a first timer. Even greater if you just want to chill and golf. If I lived here, I'd visit this spot often. On the last hole, hole 9, if you're a stud driver that slices you might find yourself driving a ball into the parking area. Hole 3 is kinda hard to see so check your map before you tee off. Other than that, theres no carts there so wear your...
