"Anime, stationary, manga, novelties, and so much more" Please Read The Whole Review My wife and I came across this store while searching for anime type stores within the Austin area and were extatic to visit. In total, we've visited this location three (3) times. The first (1st) and second (2nd) visits were almost identical. We stayed and browsed the entire store from top to bottom and were extremely impressed with the variety of items with the store. The store itself is very clean and organized, with many of the workers constantly moving and organizing products throughout the store. Customer service was notable as well, with which I was quite pleased. Now for the third (3rd) vsist. The overall quality of this third (and maybe last due to our hasty transition), visit was certainly less than the first and second. The brand itself had certainly seen a rising increase in popularity over the years, and with Genshin Impact making its way into the establishment, it certainly draws from all walks of life. With that being said, I found myself having to constantly reorient myself throughout the store due to the "musky" smell wafting throughout the air. I'm not going to let this Impact the overall rating of the establishment, since it was mainly due to the customers flocking in and out of the store. Still, it certainly has a lasting impression on the comprehensive shopping experience. Kinokuniya Austin has a wide variety of items (to include Genshin Impact) as well as outstanding staff members and their marvelous customer service. The photos connected to this review are what I purchased during my...
Read moreWorst customer service experience I have ever had.
I went in to buy a planner and when checking out, I asked the cashier if I could run my card as debit. He said it would automatically run as debit. It ran as credit which I knew because it didn’t ask for a PIN number.
I then asked if I could run it as debit instead, and he proceeded to tell me again it ran as debit. He was getting agitated at this point and it wasn’t very pleasant.
Debit cards can be run as debit or processed as credit, which adds a pending charge to the account rather than taking it directly from the account immediately.
His coworker then proceeded to raise his voice at me and tell me I was wrong and that I needed to leave the store. He then started to yell at me to “call my bank” and “go calm down and take a bath”.
Literally the most insane experience I have ever had and they were all wrong and didn’t know the difference between a debit and credit transaction and that debit cards can be processed as both.
The manager said that she would talk to him but honestly he deserves go be fired, it was the craziest experience I have ever had a a store with employees that didn’t know what they were talking about and then proceeded to tel me that I was wrong and what to do with my...
Read moreOne of my favorite places in Austin. As far as I know, the manga isn’t rly overpriced. On top of lots of manga, they sell many other types of books/magazines, puzzles, posters, figurines, plushes, pouches, keychains, art supplies (pens, pencils, notebooks, washi tape, etc.), and more. I find something new every time i visit and it’s always a good time. I would happily visit this store and buy nothing. You do NOT need to be an anime fan to appreciate this store. Unless you go on a very non-busy day, expect the store to be crowded. The aisles are small because the store is packed full of good stuff, so when it’s busy it can be a little hard to move around. They have a no food/drink policy but they have a shelf stand at the entrance where you can leave your drink! They also have a membership program that may be worth it for frequent visitors or manga enthusiasts. In my experience, the employees usually seem a little stressed/short, which likely indicates that they are just understaffed. They have 2 registers and they do not typically have any employees scattered around the store to help customers. This has never bothered me, but if u needed help with something, it may be...
