I tried many churches years ago and found that non-denominational, evangelical, Christian congregations are now using fog machines and corny, formulaic worship music. I came to Riverbend expecting much of the same given the size of the place but was pleasantly surprised to find a lucid and intentional ministry. They aren’t trying to “win” the younger crowds with laser lights. The congregation here is a good mix of old and young. I started attending regularly in 2015 and have since brought my husband and my daughter here. My daughter is now 5 and has loved the children’s ministry and tells me what she learns there and I’m always so delighted. She knows Jesus is the Son of God, has the full power of God within him, was a real man who sacrificed himself on a cross, came back from the dead to raise into heaven, and is coming back to our realm one day to claim his Church. She knows that he loves us all individually beyond comprehension and our sins are already forgiven. — I wish I lived closer so I could be more involved but we will continue to make the pilgrimage from Dripping Springs on...
Read moreMy family and I visited today and the only way I would come back is if someone paid me. Not only were we ignored when trying to drop our son off for child care but it seemed like everyone was confused we when mentioned we were visiting. If this is how visitors are treated I can see why people would be surprised as I assume it rarely happens.
But honestly the thing that makes me the most upset was all of the stalls selling art right outside the sanctuary as well as the CARS FOR SALE!!
Why would a church have cars and EV’s displayed across their campus advertising them as for sale?! They must have gotten a very different message from the story of Jesus chasing the money changers and merchants out of the temple than literally everyone else I’ve ever heard.
I can’t speak on the preaching as we left in the middle of the speakers sermon. We were overlooked and felt gross...
Read moreFirst time here today, 11:15 service. Took my daughter who is going to college in Austin. I'm from WAY out of town. I was trying to find a place she could connect to. Was greeted by a gentleman who handed us a paper, didn't say hi or tried to shake our hand. I guess worship had started when we took our seat. Weather this morning was bad for our 2 hour trip into Austin, so we were a couple minutes late. The lady at piano was talking. Good message. No one greeted us or talked to us afterwards. There was no one or a place to go to ask about what programs they have for college age students. I grabbed some informational brochures on the way out. I don't know why since my daughter said she most probably will never return. I was sad because it was a missed opportunity for my daughter. Maybe she will look elsewhere. Sorry, you missed out on a...
