(Review by - 100% Disabled Veteran 20+ years) My wife is 7 months pregnant. She needed to use restroom very bad. We stopped at this place before my wife peed in her pants, as my wife was worried about. My primary concern as we walked in this place of business was to look for the women’s restroom and then buy a pastry. The women workers immediately came up to us stopping us from using the restroom and shouted that the restrooms are for customers only and if we were a customer, we should have said hi and greeted her before rushing to the restroom. She made a scene in front of the two customers she had there. I have money. I am not poor. I am a husband and paying customer. These people were more concerned about me purchasing something BEFORE allowing my wife to use their restroom. The women working stated the customer is not always right and I should have greeted her before caring for my wife. We have never been treated in such a way. After this horrible experience, I would never give these people my money or business.
(In response to the below comment. You had a total of 2 customers in your store. Your brother laughed at you because you were being rude. He didn’t say one word to me to defend you. I was right and you know you know it. Instead of apologizing, you are trying to justify you actions. I told you when you told me the bathroom was for customers that I was a customer. You said I should had said that when I came in. I have never announced that I’m a customer when I enter a establishment. You didn’t greet us when we walked in, I would have said hello to you. I was on the mission to get my wife to the bathroom asap. You are wrong and you know it! I am a combat veteran and am 100% disabled due to combat related injuries and I have never in my life been treated the way you treated us. My only concern was my wife not what you thought I should have done when I entered...
Read moreUnfortunately, an other french boulangerie that isn’t worthy of claiming French-ness. It was promising - the menu and some of the to-go items are fairly typically French, authentic recipes. The staff is nice, and while a bit cliché Parisian bistro (over what is more French these days outside of Paris), the atmosphere and interior is nice.
That’s where the good stops. The crepes are terrible - they are not really froment or sarassin, something in between that is chewy and bland. The ham and cheese used are also quite tasteless, and the overall lacks any seasoning (please - the base of any French cuisine is to add salt & pepper!). The croque monsieur were a step above, but still just ok. The quiche was fine, but likely still inferior for a 2€ store-bought slice you could get in Alsace.
Some of it might have been forgivable, if it was not for the very high prices. If you’re going to be at this asking price, you got to be best in class, and right now quite far behind other Austin French adresses like Julie Myrtille or newly opened Violet Bakehouse, that are also quite expensive yet still more affordable than this.
You have a good setup, a good location and likely a clientele that can afford it! hope you take this...
Read moreShady business model. Went in for macarons. Purchased 12 and got charged $52 before tax. I was in a rush so I made a mental note to check their menu as I felt the price was aligned with what one might pay at an actual boulangerie in Paris(this was no Ladurée). I saw the price listed as $2.50 per macaron and I was charged $4.33. Called them back to ask what the heck was going on. Store front employee states “Oh well we changed the price a few weeks ago but our website person hasn’t been able to update it yet. I told her this was ridiculous and that they should honor their actual menu pricing and not arbitrarily charge people almost double. She went to speak to the owner who basically didn’t budge and so here I am. Just a buyer beware as I think this was a prime example of crappy customer service and a business owner who doesn’t give a crap about repeat business or...
