Easy to find! When you park, park by the ball courts and there will be signs on places to go. It will say “You’re here”. Take a right and keep going then take another right and go down the trail to the right again and follow it down and continue looking towards the right (repetitive, I know!) and you will see this. It’s crystal clear!!! The current is very strong! The water will rise and lower. It’s not a sudden change. When it’s low you can walk way out in the middle and it’s below your knees (for me 6’1, to my upper ankles). But when it’s right the current is definitely strong. WEAR SWIM SHOES. Not necessary but definitely helpful. Explore the trails and let the current take you up stream and get up on the bank and walk by down and do it all over again lol. We were the only ones there and it was a Thursday. Then about 30 camp kids come (5-9 years old) and about 10 more adults. But I would definitely give it a try you all! It’s gorgeous. Oh and the...
Read morebeautiful walk. saw 1 (one) deer. he was scared of us and ran off. don’t know why, kind of insulted, i’m a nice guy. whatever. when i approached the beach i was asked for a secret password. i didn’t know the password so i tried “dead chicken” as there was a dead chicken next to them. i quickly realized the blood was still spilling out of the dead chicken and the man asking me for the password was holding a bloody knife and wearing a hood and everyone around him was chanting. i asked whose chicken this was and if they were having a bbq because i had leftover hotdog buns in my car from the last bbq i was at because someone else brought hot dog buns even though i already said in the face book event that i was bringing hot dog buns, i realized they weren’t listening and they were starting to raise their voices in some melodramatic tone that i was beginning to find quite irritating. that’s when i left. i felt insulted...
Read morePlease be careful here if you're going to paddleboard. A friend and I went recently for the first time, and while the water was very calm and low when we started, 45 minutes later, the dam opened and the current was suddenly very strong and the water much deeper. We couldn't make it back to the beach area from where we'd started and had to strategically get to the shore (after I dropped my paddle and watched it flow downstream way faster than i could even respond) and climb up a steep hill back to the park. There were some scary moments and I would not recommend going here for paddleboarding at all. Maybe when the water is low, wading around and looking for birds, or sitting on the small beach is better, because before things got worrisome, we saw 5 heron nests and 3 eagles...
