This place is huge! We had a pretty good time here and noted some pros and cons. The pros are this place has a huge indoor and outdoor area. They serve food, snacks and drinks which includes cocktails, beer and wine. They brew their own beer as this place is a microbrewery, so try the homemade stuff. The place is nice and clean and they play live music. The cons are the price as everything is pretty expensive. The service as the staff is probably a little overworked and they aren't the most friendly or attentive, although they do the best they can. The parking is also a nightmare! While this place is huge, it can get packed which is great for business, but can be overwhelming. Overall we had a nice time. We really liked the Primer and Clutch pizzas and the Machinist was just ok. The Prezels weren't that great and the Tomatoe salad was terrible according to my wife. The Blackberry Smash cocktail was a hit and the East Side cocktail, which sounded great, didn't live up to it. This is a great place to go with a group of friends for some drinks and conversation. #cmwbrewery, #central.machine.works

We've always loved this place: 1. Family Friendly - they have multiple board game options to bring to your table. 2. Great space - Previous visits they had a living room like set up with leather couches and coffee table inside. Perfect place to post up with a group that has kids. Or even people who love to lounge. We sat outside this last time and even the long picnic style tables work well for big groups and kiddos. 2. Huge layout with outdoor and indoor options. 3. Great beer that gets the job done. I've never had to wait in line too long to get a beer. 4. Awesome pizza - I've had their pizza before and it was nothing to write home about. I'm super particular about my pizza preferences and this last time I couldn't stop raving about it. Perfectly thin crust with great flavor to where I even finished the end crust (not a usual for me), tomato sauce amount just right, sausage nicely chopped into small pieces, pepperoni where the outside curled up with a nice toast on the edges. What else do you need in a pizza. There's nothing I can think of to rate this place any less. Done and done.

Absolutely appalling, on so many levels!!

Booked and paid a deposit for a space in the outside area for a pre-wedding party, 18 months in advance, only to have them cancel on us at the last minute as another group was “going to pay them more”.

No discussion about it, just a straight up cancellation despite the contract we had in place for the best part of 2 years.

We explained that we had 100 people coming into town for the event and no time to arrange a new venue, and their response was that we could change the date of our event to the next evening as “our guests would still enjoy it”.

We explained that the next day was, in fact, our wedding day so we needed to keep the original date then, the next thing we know, our deposit had been refunded to our account. No further communication from them on any level.

This brewery values a little bit of extra profit over any form of customer service or satisfaction, and are more than happy to cancel on you no matter how it may impact you.

They will also offer no apology for cancelling, and are not at all concerned with the reason for your event, even if it is in the lead up to your wedding.

Please avoid at all costs, and do not trust them with any form of event you may be looking to host.

There are so many amazing breweries in Austin, this is not...

I went to Central Machine Works on Friday the 15th for a live music event. I was drawn in by a very interesting building, I was informed by the security guard that it was a refurbished airplane hanger. Sadly this is where the good service ended. I had to wait close to 20 minutes in line to get a draft beer. After waiting this insanely long wait time I was met by a server, She was a late 20s early 30 year old women average height maybe 5’5-5’7 dark brown or black hair. She was extremely short and snappy with me making no effort to be acquainting. Then the first time she tried to run my card it didn’t go through. ( I had to notice it hadn’t worked when she flipped the tablet expecting a tip). She then proceeded to rip the beer out of my hand and start to leave with it. That is when I stopped her and told her to ring it up again. Low and behold it worked but I was left with a sour taste in my mouth. I don’t know if it’s management policy to handle payment issues like that or they just hire incompetent bartenders but I urge they change that as every time there computer or someone’s card has an issue they are going to end up with a very upset customer. I won’t be returning here. I don’t recommend you do either unless you want to wait 20 minutes for a...

Large & spacious! A good sized parking lot directly behind it allows for an easy in and out. It was warm and humid, but the massive industrial fans kept it plenty refreshing inside. Part of the brewery system is open in the front of the room right by the kitchen - which is exceedingly fast! Bartenders were friendly and gave a no-hassle swap when their 'hoppy' old fashion turned out to be too sweet. They were out of espresso and vodka I believe, which made the menu that much smaller... To be fair everyone is experiencing a short of some kind right now (boba tea tapioca pearls, anyone?!) Live music sounded great even while indoors. The letdown came when our moderately sized party couldn't find indoor seating to accommodate. We had about 4 people more than the open table we found could seat, even though there were 5 large, empty tables all night long that were simply marked 'reserved'. Unable to find out if the group(s) hadn't showed up, or were somehow coming even later than we stayed - it felt kind of silly to cut off prime seating that had no sitters for over 3 hours. We weren't the only ones feeling that way either. Overall the drinks are good, and the Blue Collar beer is a really nice, mild drink that can be...
