We spent months looking at apartments and found this apartment. We were promised a move in day that fit with our move out date at our current apartment. Two days after submitting our application and guaranteeing our unit our roommate went and toured the complex and when she told them that she needed to move in before the April 5th (our move out date for our current apartment) they told her the unit wouldnât be ready in time. When she told us this we called to confirm that we would still be able to move in on the day we had planned. They ensured us that we would still be able to move into our apartment on April 3rd. We repetitively asked when we could sign our lease and they refused to send it to us. They told us that we just had to sign before we got our keys which was still a few weeks away. Then two weeks before our move in date they called to tell us that the unit would not be ready until April 15th due to a delay in getting their certification of occupancy from the city. They assured us that the MINUTE they got their CO they would call us and let us know we could come move in. At this point it was too late for us to extend our current lease, so we had to move out and stay in a hotel until our unit was ready. We repetitively asked if we could stay in another unit temporary until ours was ready and they told us no. They also told us that they would not cover the cost for us to live in a hotel either. The only thing that they offered was an extra two weeks free that they are already offering to new residents who sign with them. We had to move all of our things and pay for a storage unit, pay to stay in a hotel, live out of our suitcases, and pay twice for movers since our move in day was a Monday and both my husband and I work. Then when they finally told us they got their CO it took 6 more days for them to let us move in because the apartments had to be cleaned. SIX DAYS TO CLEAN AN APARTMENT THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO ALREADY BE CLEANED. They tried telling us that a CO was their permission from construction to go into the apartments and starting cleaning them. THIS IS NOT TRUE. A CO is the cities approval for tenants to live in the units safely. Not approval for them to start cleaning. When confronting them about all these lies and their dishonestly i got laughed at by their manager. She tried telling me I didnât understand how these things work and that there was nothing she could do to make things right. She also told me that our move in date they we set up a month prior was never promised and that they had told us that there was a possibility of delays. However, we were never told that there was even the slightest chance that we wouldnât be able to move in on time. We asked multiple times and they continued to tell us we had nothing to worry about. They claim to be up front but the fact is that they lied over and over to us. The apartments werenât ready so they took the 2 weeks delay on move in and waited until the last week to get cleaners into the unit while making tenants remain HOMELESS! They at least need to get their lies straight before they try and screw people over. They never had a plan for delays, which I understand happens with new construction, and instead put everyone trying to move into the units in a horrible situation. If you move into the unit after all this Iâm sure you wonât have this same issue but they did nothing to make it right and is not a company I would recommend you giving your money to. There are plenty of other apartments in the Austin area that have WAY better management and will do right by...
Read moreI just wanted to give a shout out to all the Windsor SoCo Team: Leo, Gina, Sophia, & the maintenance people/groundskeepers. They are very kind & understanding when I have approached them with any personal concerns or inquiries. I can tell they are trying their best to improve our quality of living within this residential community.
The maintenance/groundskeepers are also going above & beyond and making sure the grounds are kept clean as well. We have unfortunately been having some residents not pick up after their dogs & the staff has been picking up after them. This shouldn't be the case... people should be more responsible dog owners & pick up after their own dogs! I have honestly ran across this issue across multiple residences in Austin (since it is a dog friendly city) so I am not surprised it happens here too. But at least the team is doing the best they can to fix the issue. Some complexes have staff that do not care about the issue & don't focus on keeping the grounds clean, but this staff does try to keep our community clean & pleasant to walk around. The office is also being proactive & contacting these dog owners to pick up after their dogs too, after multiple residents have noticed & complained about them.
I & other residents have also noticed that there have been multiple people being quite bold/selfish & letting their dogs run around the complex off leash as well (in areas that are not designated for off-leash dogs), which is definitely not considerate towards other residents & people walking their own dogs on their leash. It is not safe to let your dogs wander around the complex without a leash, some dogs who are not normally aggressive might react in an aggressive way if they are approached by an off leash dog and someone could get hurt (this is such a big pet peeve of mine since I have personally experienced issues with dogs and/or people getting hurt as a result of this). The office is now doing the best they can to locate these residents who are not leashing their dogs & contact them so that they start leashing their dogs. They are also informing the residents that Austin's leash ordinance requires dogs to be on a leash.
Overall, the experience of living in this complex has improved since the new maintenance team took over recently. I really appreciate this team effort to get our community to be more respectful of our shared space. Thank you very much for kindly listening to me and treating me with respect and kindness. I am sure you are all trying the best you can. Have a...
Read moreThe apartment was so horrible I had to break my lease months after signing.
Cons: The back entrance to apartments smells like dog urine.
The AC will not work in the dead of the summer. Check out my pictures. When it rarely comes down to temperature it still feels hot and humid some how like the unit is not expelling the humidity.
Absolutely no service, Iâve had Verizon for 11 years, not a single moment I lived there did have more than 1 bar while living there. I could only use my WiFi and the buildings WiFi if it worked.
During sunset you canât stand in the kitchen without getting blinded by the sun.
The elevator on the weekend was always covered in vomit for the entire weekend.
The parking spots in most areas are super tight, and you will get your car dinged.
The biggest motivator for us to break our lease was the sewage backup smell in our apartment. I spoke to other residents on my floor and only my direct neighbor seemed to share a similar experience and others did not. The unit we lived at was #1436, it faces the pool so maybe thatâs what weâre smelling. But the smell is overwhelming and after weeks of nausea I had to leave.
Little tiny brown bugs inside the kitchen cabinets that wonât go away after multiple pest treatments.
There are zero quality upgrades in this apartment. The cabinetry used in the kitchen is peeling, it feels like an ikea cabinetry set. And is that very very thin wood.
There was a STRONG pet smell in the apartment. It smells like 5 dogs lived in that apartment. They never could get rid of the smell. Itâs a very musty smell that lingers on your clothes. Not fun!
Upon move-in the entire unit was dirty! Dirty chipped used toilet seat and a dirty kitchen island.
A lot of hair was found in the washing machine, mounds and mounds of clump of dog hair it was trifling.
During the weekend of no valet trash, the hallways smells like a dead body even after the trash has been picked up, there has been juices that spilled onto the floor from the garbages and itâs disgusting.
The gym is mediocre, all the machines are OLD.
Dirty stairwells.
The balcony is terribly small for the unit #1436.
I didnât care for any of the staff. They all acted like my unit was fine even with the laundry list of issues and thatâs extremely annoying that not once did they ever take accountability. â-
Pros
Decent common areas, the upstairs sky deck is sick! Super cool, I wished the tv worked.
Having elevators when they are clean and in working condition is...
