Read moreUpdate 10/8: revisiting my review to let everyone know I did go back yesterday and was able to order online and pick up in a reasonably amount of time (30 mins). Granted, we went pre-dinner rush but the second visit met my expectations. Seems like they're getting their groove! Excited to see if this continues the next visit!
First of all, want to say that my husband and I LOVE Ramen Tatsu-Ya. Have been going therr for years in different locations and just had a fab anniversary at DipDipDip. So, we were sooo stoked to get this location so close!
However, if you're in the Buda/south ATX area, save yourself some time/frustration and just order ahead at the S Lamar location and go pick it up (I know, sadly, it's a drive). At this new location, we placed a to go order in person (online was shut off) and waited an extremely long time in person to get our food (~1 hour). We watched those we had been standing in line with come and go, even those who had been standing behind us. While we did come during lunch "rush" hour (around 2), the answer of "we'll text you when it's ready" is just not acceptable at some point when they're aware you're waiting there. And, honestly, the rush did go down quickly and the restaurant was not packed.
It will take awhile for me to try this location again, if I ever do... and we would have been very frequent patrons (again, we love them!) Just UGH!
One redeeming thing is they ended up comping our meal, but I value my time a bit more. Hopefully they work the timing kinks out! Can confirm the food quality is...
Read moreSo I agree with the recent reviews. I've been coming to this location for almost 2 years. The service is short and rude, it didn't used to be this way. I typically bring my own drink in or I'll go to Torchy's and get a fountain drink or some other drink to bring in since all they have are Tiny 8oz Diet Coke bottles for $4, which is a total rip off. Never had an issue doing this until this past Friday 5/24. I spent about $70 plus tip for 3 people. We are just about finished eating and whoever this lady is who works there decides to come up at the last minute and say "Sorry no outside food or drink". Oh yeah? What are you going to do? Are you going to Trespass me? Are you going to call the police? Why? Because you can't rip me off with the nonsense drink choices you offer? So I sat there and finished my food and my drink with no further contact with anyone after that snarky comment which was made in passing by the way because she's a coward. There are some things restaurants should die on a hill for and this is not one of them, especially for a repeat customer who spends on average $40 to $70 every time we come in. I'm a local, I live less than 2 miles away. Not everyone is a tourist transient. I realize you have high turn over for servers / cashiers but get a clue. As for the food, the Ramen has been about the same from when I first started coming, it's good. The Karaage has improved a lot, it used to be nearly burned every...
