The Haverhill‑Bath Bridge is a charming hidden gem that beautifully blends history and nature. Its sturdy steel truss and wooden deck invite peaceful walks or bike rides, offering serene river views framed by lush greenery. The bridge’s well-maintained structure makes it both safe and photogenic—ideal for capturing New England’s timeless beauty. Whether you’re seeking a tranquil escape, a scenic backdrop for photos, or a taste of local heritage, this bridge delivers with simple elegance and quiet charm.

This is a Covered Bridge you have to see. Old style construction with wooden pegs, heavy milled beams and the added wonder of a unique dam to an old mill? Hydroelectric plant? At the far end, a spillway with natural rock, rushing water and summer wild flowers to hide some frogs. This one is not drivable at present, but back street parking with a fairly gentle slope, and paved road make it fairly accessible (I walk with a cane).

This was my favorite place to go as a child. The country's oldest convenience store is just a two minute walk away, with New England delicacies and some souvenirs. The area surrounding the bridge is gorgeous landscape interrupted only by the river. A beautiful time capsule of a town with friendly people who unfortunately drive like it's 1799.
