I'm gonna go against the other reviews and say this one isn't worth the hassle. I'll break it down by category in case you want to skip around.
Virtual Queue: I set my alarm for 6:58a to get in as soon as I could thinking it would be a similar experience to trying to do the virtual queue for Guardians over at Epcot. As soon as 7a hit, I refreshed and within seconds managed to get a spot in "GROUP 2"!!! I had the same reaction time for Guardians and landed "Group 94" which worked out fine for our plans that day. Group 2 however, did not. We planned to get bfast at the hotel and ride the bus to MK. Well at 7:45AM, before the park opened, our group was called. This meant we had 1hr to get to the park and into the queue. Being a pair of adults, that might be fine, but we were traveling with our two kids (7 month old and 2 year old) plus my sister who rides an ECV because she's partially disabled. Well, let me say that we just made the queue by skipping bfast and managing to catch a bus as soon as we walked up to the loading area. All the stars aligned and we made it within a few mins after 8:45a. We had to do child swap which took a few extra mins to setup before getting into the queue but we got it sorted and what a mess to start the morning by rushing everything.
Seating/Bike: The seats are VERY uncomfortable for anyone who has larger calves like me. So uncomfortable that my legs fell asleep from the knee down because the ride was squeezed down so tight just for me to lock it in. I have a few extra lbs on me but my legs are solid as a rock. Anyone with smaller calves won't have an issue with this part. The position of the seat was also uncomfortable because you're leaning forward but not resting on anything so you're holding yourself up for the entire ride, almost like doing a plank while lifting your head up. They do have an accommodations seat on the back of the coaster which allows you to sit like a normal coaster seat with a lap bar. I had my sister ride that when she went on as I knew the Bike wouldn't be possible with her disability.
Ride Experience: The ride itself is okay and very short for what it is. The story leading up in the queue seemed decent but the ride doesn't do a great job of finishing that story. It is a very smooth coaster overall and it has some zippy parts.
Conclusion: I wouldn't bother with the hassle of riding this one again. This ride does not need a virtual queue at all and all of the mess it brings. Yes, the majority of my review was based on frustration of the Virtual Queue and having to get to the park way earlier than we wanted. But the ride itself isn't even that great either. If you've never done it and are okay with the Virtual Queue nonsense, I'd say check on the test bikes out front of the queue to make sure you can lock it in with comfort, or just go straight to the back seat with the normal car. The ride added no value to our day which was why it got 2 ⭐. Good luck if you do manage to snag a...
Read moreReally enjoyed this ride. It is a next-gen coaster that has outdoor but mostly indoor elements. After a very long wait (expect 45 min to an hour with virtual queue, 30 minutes with individual lightning lane access), including a stop at a locker area, you are finally strapped in to your "lightcycle" and thrust into the outdoor area where you have just been waiting (fun to see watch pre- and post-ride). You are then taken through several "gates" to "time" your performance. Cool photos are taken and the lighting is on-theme. The whole ride is about 60 seconds long. The ride feels very fast and smooth - especially at the beginning where you go from standstill to fast nearly instantly; the same feeling as riding in a fast-accelerating car. Your back is supported by a restraint so you really feel it! This is also one of the few rides at Disney that smaller kids can't ride due to the height restriction (48" - my little thrill-seeker had tears when he found out). Even though we scored a virtual queue spot we were surprised by the wait time. If you buy that ILL pass, you will still wait a while. And guess what...if you don't have fast wifi and a fast trigger finger, you are out of luck on the virtual queue and stuck with purchasing the lightning lane. I practiced for weeks working on my trigger finger to get into boarding group 61 at 7am. VQ also opens at 1pm and sometimes 6pm. Queue is closed within 5-10 SECONDS of it opening. It's that quick! It was worth it but honestly too much work and with the expectation that you can "skip the line" by purchasing ILL, it would have been very disappointing to purchase that and still have to wait in a long, rather boring line. Unlike many other Disney rides, the theming in the queue area is mediocre and minimal (get ready for blue lights once you get inside). The locker area was somewhat confusing and we saw some guests asking for help (one group even claimed their locker was empty upon return - eek!). We luckily left our large items with the non-riders so skipped the locker part - definitely recommend doing that if you can (also saved a few minutes of wait time). In all, the ride was awesome but hope the queue situation improves as the ride's initial allure dies down. We opted not to try to ride again - the only way to do that would be to purchase the ILL and we felt it wasn't worth it. We will do it again on the next trip and plan ahead with snacks and things to keep us busy...
Read moreTron! You must join a VIRTUAL QUEUE at MY DISNEY EXPERIENCE to have access, and please join 7am exact. Otherwise, you won't get in. I found it very confusing because I only found that I was on Queue when I saw an 83 group number on my main screen of MY DISNEY EXPERIENCE main page and nothing else, Disney is not giving a time frame during your VIRTUAL QUEUE sign up.... TRON is about 1-2 minutes. The ride is super high-speed, but nothing so excited. There are no 360° full loops. I felt TRON a very basic rollercoaster who did not impress me with anything different. Also, the sitting/prepare for the ride is a little bit odd... if you are overweight, it will be uncomfortable, or if you have any no motorcycle experience. They should have a small version of MOTORCYCLE setting for kids as "TRON" motorbikes settings are 100% adult setting in size. If you have not rode a motorcycle before, you will be puzzled how to sit/adjust in the ride. TRON GROUPS competition: I didn't see any competition between teams during the ride, and NO, motorcycles don't split as they show on earlier video while waiting for the ride. Boring engagement. You won't see BLUE, GREEN, RED OR ORANGE team during the ride as waiting lounge video mentions. A train with motorcycle(s) all plugged together - and high speed turns up and downs in less than 1-2 minutes after lot of boring turns and moves TRON will be over. It is in the dark 90% of the time, but it is a short disappointed ride. Maybe doing at NIGHT time the rollercoaster ride is brighter and different, but it won't change the basic rollercoaster expectations. TRON to me 1st and last time. I did experience, was ok... but never ever again. It is simply a waste of QUEUE time 7AM early in the morning - if you are in the Magic Kingdom park you can join in a VIRTUAL QUEUE at 1pm, but please do not waste $20 fee to get in the fastlane either. In my humble opinion, I am extremely disappointed. For best excitement, DO IT AT NIGHT TIME better outdoor blue technology visuals, but dont...
