Riding the PeopleMover once during the daytime, and again at night, gives you two very different experiences. I prefer riding after dark because of the chill vibe and the colorful lighting where you can watch Tomorrowland's buildings and Cinderella Castle whiz by, awash in multicolored lights. If you hop on the elevated tram car during the daytime, you are rewarded with breezy, shady relief from the Florida sun. A day trip also offers brighter views from your second-story perch of the people hustling below (they look like giant ants!) - and you can prop your tired feet up on the seat bench across from you. Even if you are just a party of one, you will be assigned your own car, so you can spread out and relax in comfort. And don't let the appearance of lines dissuade you - your wait might be 10-15 minutes max, which is short for Magic Kingdom. // While Disneyland's version closed in 1995, Magic Kingdom's PeopleMover has been chugging along merrily more or less since July 1, 1975. While the open-air boxy blue cars look and sometimes feel old & rickety (that's because they are), these work-horses reliably haul guests on a grand tour between and through four buildings in Tomorrowland. The tram cars are propelled by linear induction motors and the push-pull of giant magnets secured on the track below. // On July 1, 2022, a new audio narration was introduced with several allusions, including some clever nods to the past (e.g., the long-closed If You Had Wings attraction), the return of the 1994 chime, and whimsical retro-future announcements ("Paging Mr. Morrow—Mr. Tom Morrow. Please contact Mr. Johnson in the control tower to confirm your flight to the moon.") Even as the all-new Tron: Lightcycle Run canopy rises nearby, Disney's PeopleMover reminds guests that their view of the future has a firm anchor...
Read moreDisney's PeopleMover is an attraction located in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. I had not been on this ride before at Disneyworld or Disneyland, so I was interested once I knew it was a slow moving sit down type ride that goes around Tomorrowland and through different rides such as Space Mountain.
Here's where things get interesting though. I had decided to ride this while Space Mountain had been down for nearly two days. At first, everything was normal. However, the ride broke down inside the first Space Mountain section where normally it would be pitch black, however, because Space Mountain had been down, the maintenance lights were on, giving me full visibility of the ride.
This was cool, however, 30 minutes went by and the ride still had not started. Finally, probably 40 minutes after we "broke down," a Cast Member announced we would be evacuated from the ride. Add another ten minutes on top of the time we waited with almost no communication and it started getting annoying.
Finally, we were evacuated, and walked along the track to the nearest emergency exit. Unfortunately, I was told not to record (annoying).
While the ride itself is OK, and I rode the PeopleMover fully a day later, and I understand the ride rarely brakes down, and even more rarely gets evacuated, the whole situation was annoying. We were given a free lightning lane in return for waiting which ended up being useless as it was close to 10PM at night, and we had already purchased Genie+ for the day.
Overall, 4/5 for the ride itself, the ride having to be evacuated created an annoying situation and lowers my rating to a...
Read moreThe Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, often simply called the PeopleMover, is a beloved attraction in Disney World's Magic Kingdom. This leisurely ride offers guests a relaxing and scenic tour of Tomorrowland, providing a unique perspective on the park's futuristic vision.
One of the key appeals of the PeopleMover is its smooth, gentle pace, making it suitable for all ages and a perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of the park. The ride takes visitors on an elevated journey through several Tomorrowland attractions, including Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, offering intriguing sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes glimpses. The narration throughout the ride is both informative and whimsical, adding to the charm and nostalgia for longtime Disney fans.
The PeopleMover's open-air cars provide a refreshing breeze and an excellent vantage point for views of the park, especially during evening rides when the lights of Tomorrowland create a magical atmosphere. Despite being a classic ride without the thrills of newer attractions, it remains a favorite due to its relaxing nature, short wait times, and the opportunity to see Tomorrowland from a different perspective.
Overall, the PeopleMover is a delightful and underrated gem that captures the spirit of Disney's innovation and storytelling, making it a must-ride for anyone visiting...
