Unfortunately it wasn't what I expected, I was really excited to take my 2 year old son to this museum because he is into firetrucks and he finds them amusing, we went in and we were received in a kind way when paying up front, but once going in there was a group of older men sitting at a table. My son is an active and curious one he was everywhere, I was right behind him when he was trying to get on the firetrucks it's a learning process to teach a toddler, I was asked to either leave or go sit my son at the back in the children's area. I believe this is a museum to explore? Not to go sit my son at a corner, I can have him sit and watch TV or color at home. Plus my son didn't destroy anything because I was right behind him at all times. He is an older person i didn't get his name but he was balled with white mustache, he might not have the patience but if so why work there? I even still asked if he can take a picture with my son not knowing we would get treated this way. Not only that but I guess he has forgotten what it is to be a child. Don't forget you were once a child. Don't kill a...

So, as super huge museum buffs (we CAN'T pass up a good museum!), as people who love to learn all about how stuff works, and as watchers of the TV show Emergency!, we absolutely had to stop by, and I'm so glad we did!

This museum has a lot of fascinating history packed into a compact space. You can get right up close to the exhibits, which lets you see all kinds of interesting detail, and there's everything from vehicles to small tools.

I would especially like to thank our docent, who was so friendly and not only gave us a wonderfully informative tour and taught us a ton about the history of both firefighting equipment and the fire service as a whole, but also answered all my questions about just how a fire engine actually works and what all those knobs, dials, and compartments are for. I'm very grateful, sir - you made this nerd's day! I would also like to give a shoutout to the ladies at the desk for being super friendly and welcoming. You're all...

Great place, worth the time to stop and visit. Very well placed displays and informative signs of early Era fire apparatuses to modern Era equipment, historical pieces of equipment on display as well. Very informative section on the pioneers and formation of the paramedicine/ paramedic program and the TV program Emergency! The best part was the people/ docents, very knowledgeable, friendly and informative. They gave you personal tours of the museum, equipment and explained it to you in layman's terms. One in particular gave us a tour, Gary Davis, awesome docent and gave us great insight on the life of a firefighter/ paramedic. He was one of the first paramedics in LA County history, a true pioneer and living history gem. Keep up...

Bellflower is a little bit outside of Orange County in LA, just a few minutes from Buena Park. It definitely makes for a fun half-day trip with littles. The three stops I’ve highlighted in this reel are all a short walk from one another and situated in a cute little downtown area with plenty of parking. If you do all three stops, this trip should take between 2 and 3 hours total. Stop 1: Pirate Park. Sandwiched between two sizable parking lots, this playground is completely gated and friendly to kids of all ages. It is SMALL but MIGHTY. We have been to a lot of pirate parks, but this one is unique with excellent theming. Not too much shade here, so better for mornings, but be aware that the park is usually not unlocked until 9am Monday-Saturday and 10am on Sunday. See the Bellflower city website for their most up to date hours. As of the time of this writing, the July hours had not been posted. The address of this park is 16559 Bellflower Blvd. Stop 2: LA County Fire Museum. Just a block from Pirate Park is this neat fire museum. It is very affordable, with $5 tickets for adults and free admission for children 12 and under. They gave our kids hats and badges when we checked in, and the docents (former firefighters) were all very friendly and welcoming. We looked around a little and played in the small kids area. You only need about 30-45 minutes to do this museum. NOTE: this museum is closed Sunday-Tuesday. Their hours are 9-2pm Wednesday-Saturday. Address is 16400 Bellflower Blvd. Stop 3: SteelCraft Bellflower. Just a few doors down from the fire museum, you will find a nice casual food court at SteelCraft. There is plenty of room for kids to run around while your order, wait for, and eat your food. They even have a fun ā€œkids cornerā€ with a few hills among child sized tables. My kids made some friends and tossed a ball around throughout lunch. Address is 16500 Bellflower Blvd. #ocparentguide #socal #lacounty #losangeles #southerncalifornia #explorecalifornia
