Unfortunately it wasn't what I expected, I was really excited to take my 2 year old son to this museum because he is into firetrucks and he finds them amusing, we went in and we were received in a kind way when paying up front, but once going in there was a group of older men sitting at a table. My son is an active and curious one he was everywhere, I was right behind him when he was trying to get on the firetrucks it's a learning process to teach a toddler, I was asked to either leave or go sit my son at the back in the children's area. I believe this is a museum to explore? Not to go sit my son at a corner, I can have him sit and watch TV or color at home. Plus my son didn't destroy anything because I was right behind him at all times. He is an older person i didn't get his name but he was balled with white mustache, he might not have the patience but if so why work there? I even still asked if he can take a picture with my son not knowing we would get treated this way. Not only that but I guess he has forgotten what it is to be a child. Don't forget you were once a child. Don't kill a...
Read moreSo, as super huge museum buffs (we CAN'T pass up a good museum!), as people who love to learn all about how stuff works, and as watchers of the TV show Emergency!, we absolutely had to stop by, and I'm so glad we did!
This museum has a lot of fascinating history packed into a compact space. You can get right up close to the exhibits, which lets you see all kinds of interesting detail, and there's everything from vehicles to small tools.
I would especially like to thank our docent, who was so friendly and not only gave us a wonderfully informative tour and taught us a ton about the history of both firefighting equipment and the fire service as a whole, but also answered all my questions about just how a fire engine actually works and what all those knobs, dials, and compartments are for. I'm very grateful, sir - you made this nerd's day! I would also like to give a shoutout to the ladies at the desk for being super friendly and welcoming. You're all...
Read moreGreat place, worth the time to stop and visit. Very well placed displays and informative signs of early Era fire apparatuses to modern Era equipment, historical pieces of equipment on display as well. Very informative section on the pioneers and formation of the paramedicine/ paramedic program and the TV program Emergency! The best part was the people/ docents, very knowledgeable, friendly and informative. They gave you personal tours of the museum, equipment and explained it to you in layman's terms. One in particular gave us a tour, Gary Davis, awesome docent and gave us great insight on the life of a firefighter/ paramedic. He was one of the first paramedics in LA County history, a true pioneer and living history gem. Keep up...
