Fishboy Gallery — Attraction in Bellingham

The Fishboy Gallery located at 617 Virginia, Bellingham, was a sight for sore eyes. I was amazed at the variety of paintings when the front door opened, it was like being in the Wizard of Oz when the black and white turns into color. The paintings are of various sizes and shapes hung on the wall with careful selection of color and placement. The colors and themes in the paintings are vibrant, some playful and some not so much. Any which way you turn in the gallery is a new adventure with the artist.

Fishboy's execution is deliberate and innovative. You stand looking at the paintings not knowing exactly what resolution, meaning or idea he is trying to develop on the canvas. The meaning of words gets mixed up with emotions. One such example is the painting titled "painted my way out", you look at and read the words and you feel relief that he reached a solution, who knew. This is how an artist hits the mark...by making you feel what he painted, even if it is literal. Now I am not going "Tom Wolfe" on you or anything, but there is something to say for artist who use "the painted word", no pun intended Tom!

I recommend you go to this cool and rockin gallery, you won't be sorry. There's lots to see, take in, and you may even get zenned out in the rock garden. At times there may even be live music...do you remember Riche Havens? Don't miss this up and coming galley. "Fishboy" you hooked...

I love Fish Boy's quirky, folk art pieces and how open the gallery atmosphere is. Fish Boy's brother Doug also has interesting, different pieces of art (modern and landscapes) you can view at the gallery. Every gallery viewing is one big party with a lot of art enthusiasts, which is why I always try to come to Fish Boy's large seasonal gallery shows. One of my favorite galleries to visit and hang out in. The entire space adds a sparkle to my imagination with unique folk art, brillant artistic work and colors. I find myself lost in one of his paintings and feeling my world settle, right where it needs to be. His range of format is pretty wide.
