Plantage is the best gift I’ve given myself and my family. Like-home-cooked dinners that are balanced, nutrient-dense, delicious, creative, seasonal, and super satisfying. The portions are generous (we stretch a 2-person box to feed 2 adults and 2 small kiddos). Example of what we ate and loved this week: Hearty French stew with garlic bread, rainbow pad Thai with tofu, and baked cauliflower macaroni with crispy ‘bacon' beans and a green salad. In addition to our 3 dinners, we also always get an order of chicken-fried tofu, and their incredible herby ranch dressing for lunches throughout the week. It’s less expensive and way healthier than takeout, but such a lifesaver when you don’t have the time or energy to cook. It’s as if you set up a meal train for yourself. Plus, the head chef/owner, Chris, and everyone that works there is so kind, and have always been so flexible and helpful when I’ve needed to pause my subscription for any amount of time. Another great addition to their kitchen space (which is also just so beautiful) is the grab-and-go fridge. They prep a variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, noodle bowls, etc., that anyone can pop in and purchase for lunch throughout the week. My favorites are the kale Caesar tofu wrap and the tofu muffaletta— if you’re not sold yet on a meal subscription, start here! Oh right, and it’s all vegan/plant-based. If you’re neither of those things, don’t let that stop you— I’ve gifted meals to plenty of friends who are not, and they all rave about how great it is. Having their service has made such a positive impact in my life and health (and sanity - who likes grocery shopping, washing all the produce, chopping, cooking, cleaning, blah ugh). We’ve been a client for some time, and couldn’t be happier and more grateful working with Chris & Plantage. I have done several cost analyses, and we actually save money using this service, especially considering the time savings. We’ve also found it helps us be more mindful of what’s going in our bodies on many levels. From being more cognizant of how food works in our body, to more accurately gauging portion control resulting in less food waste.
I could keep going on and on about all the positive impacts of having this service; but at the essence Plantage really cares about our health, the planet and works with the greatest of integrity. And, perhaps I should have led with this - Chris is a fantastic chef. Plantage has innovative and varied menus and dishes… I never get bored and I am quite discerning. Read moreChris has a gift. The ability to make vegan meals taste gourmet, satisfying, filling and delicious is HARD. I tried for months before I came across her business. Her cuisine is better than ANY plant based meals I have tasted and trust me, I seek it out every time I travel, everywhere I go. Compared to her cooking and baking, everywhere pales in comparison. Her ability to combine layers of taste and texture and weave in balanced nutrition and delight is inspiring.
You would think having a plant based weekly meal service that uses organic and whenever possible local ingredients, that tastes like it does would be incredibly expensive. When I ran the math, if you factor in your time to grocery shop, cook and clean up, and the price of groceries, it was actually CHEAPER to go with Plantage than for me to do all the cooking for the week.
Not to mention our health is priceless. Every time I sit down to one of Chris’s meals I know I’m taking care of myself. I never get up after the meal feeling tired or sluggish or like I need a nap.
