We had our wedding reception at Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center on 11/3/2018. We chose Pinckneyville because it was close to our wedding ceremony location and allowed alcohol and family to prepare food. My favorite part about Pinckneyville, was that they allowed us to be very hands on in choosing our caterer, a djay, a photographer, vendors etc. We were on a budget, so we had family and friends doing everything. I also liked that they allowed us to use their tables and chairs with no extra charge. We rented linens from them and this was also convenient because the prices were fair and the staff put these linens on the table before we arrived. In fact, they provided a floor plan that allowed me to customize the layout for our event. The manager Phoebe was very helpful. Reina was also very helpful when it came to answering questions about how we could set up the room. Overall, it was a beautiful experience and my guests enjoyed themselves. My biggest issue was the lack of communication and consistency with employees. I think the discrepancies came from employees not being on the same page and the staff during our wedding reception differing from the staff that I spoke with before the event. Before the wedding, Phoebe, the manager, and I talked via phone because she noticed that I had 18 tables with 10 chairs per table (180 people), and notified me that they could only do 16 tables with 10 chairs at each table (160 people). I clarified that I only needed 16 tables, with 10 at each table except for the sweetheart table that would seat my husband and me. We agreed on this and appeared to be on the same page, but unfortunately, she was not present on the day of the reception, to ensure that this was executed. The staff was supposed to set up the room, according to my floor-plan, 2 hours before my event began (or earlier). On the day of the wedding the staff, decided to not listen to our décor team (church friends) and only put 8 chairs at each table (instead of 10). Additionally, the wedding party had 4 seats instead of 20 at their two tables. The scheduled staff did not follow the proper layout, nor listen to the ladies that were there to set up our reception, when they advised that the setup was incorrect. I was not there prior to the reception to correct it, because I was getting ready for the ceremony. This created a huge inconvenience, once guests began to arrive from our ceremony. We had to throw away the seating chart (which had family in certain places, wedding party together, etc.) and some of my guests had to help rearrange the room, to make sure that the wedding party had seats. I did not let this ruin our day, but I was definitely disappointed and irritated initially, because I felt that this issue was avoidable. Also, it was brought to my attention from four different guests, that a Pinckneyville staff member made an announcement over the microphone during my cocktail hour that some people did not RSVP, which caused a shortage in seats, and this caused a few guests to leave. My husband and I did not appreciate this because the issue was that the staff did not put enough seats at the tables before the guests arrived. It had nothing to do with guests or RSVPs. Prior to the event, I agreed to let staff remove 2 tables, but I never agreed to putting less chairs at each table. I ended up wasting time and money developing a seating chart and seating chart sign with chairs arranged for 10 people per table and not 8. Instead of fixing the issue by adding chairs (before guests arrived), there was push back/arguing which caused tension between family/friends and staff (as guests were arriving from the ceremony) in order to resolve the seating issue. Despite of this problem, once we arrived everything else seemed to flow without any issues. Overall, I do recommend that people use this facility if you are having a smaller wedding/event. I will add more photos later, because I am still...

Read moreMy son and his fiance' rented a room here for their baby shower. It was located back on the property with heavy foliage. My son said the price was very reasonable compared to other locations. I liked that there was a kitchen connected to the room. The tables were round and large, so no one had to sit alone. There was rectangular tables set up against the wall for food cupcakes and gifts. Overall I felt like they got more than their...
