The sound was great, and the house band is talented. It is definitely tight quarters. As with most concert venues the PA is pushed higher than needed, resulting in some distortion and discomfort, but they did keep it below the pain and damage thresholds, so that is good. For some reason in the second half the main vocalists effects were increased considerably past anything useful or beneficial. The crazy thing is the show was so good it survived all of that and was still enjoyable and worthwhile. My only regret is that there appears to be another whole story relating to what HMV is doing with and for artists, but there are few and only superficial opportunities to learn...
Read moreMy husband and I went to The Vault to see Ari Hest tonight. Ari was phenomenal, as usual, but the venue is atrocious. They allow in outside food and drinks, along with alcohol. The place was packed with drunk locals who shouted over the performers and acted like complete fools. Someone ordered from GrubHub and had the food delivered during the first act. The couple next to us gulped down two bottles of wine and made out for two hours like they were in their living room. Do not give your money to this place....

They are all banged up metal stools with no back. After sitting on them for three hours you walk out hunched over .It was the main complaint of the crowd at intermission and there is no room to stand up and move around.
