This hotel is absolutely disgusting. I had to give it a 1 star - but it deserves NONE. At best it can get a half star for simply having a roof over it.
I booked it as it was 5 minutes from the fields my son was playing at for a baseball tournament and Days Inns have typically been acceptable. We checked in at 11:30pm and we were on the 2nd floor. What was odd, was I was immediately charged for 2 nights upon check in. That set off some alarms.. I was told the easiest way to the room would be to park at the far end and take the back entrance in. I asked if the back doors were secure to the 2nd floor and told no - but don't worry your room's door is. We pulled around and sure enough there was a cheap door that leads to stairs to the 2nd floor.
Our room was one of 5-6 on the floor that did not have a non-smoking plaque on it.. I booked non-smoking. The room smelled stale and was very dated and dirty. Every wall had marks on it. $12 worth of paint could have done wonders here. The comforter had cigarette hole(s) burned in it and the ‘fuzzy’ blanket was like sand paper. My 11 yr old son asked if I could go to the car and get the blanket out of the trunk for him to use instead of the bed sheets. Trust me – the pictures are incredibly old and any good reviews for a comfortable stay have to have been made by the people that own this place. I cannot believe it is still in business. How do people sleep on something so uncomfortable?
Calling what we slept on a bed is an overstatement. It was like sleeping on a box spring – or the floor. I ‘slept’ on it for 5½ hours and my back still hurts 2 days later. There was no padding at all on the mattress. I don’t know if it was old or actually purchased this way. I can’t believe anyone sells something like this – unless those who bought it are used to sleeping on the floor.
The trim on the mirror in the bathroom was held on with duct tape.. When we left the building there was trash all over the parking lot in front of the dumpster. I noticed during the day that the door frame on our room was damaged – almost as if someone were using something to pry open the door. Breakfast was minimal – no one working the area, so guessing the front desk person was responsible. The bagels and bread were in their original packaging in containers. Cereal, coffee, juice and bananas were available.
We were not staying another night here. After my son’s games I came back and talked to “Neal” who was working the front desk. He was nice enough and apologized and took me to 2 other rooms to see if they would be better (they weren’t). I told him I was calling around and was going to check out and expected a credit for that night. He was accommodating and said he could have housekeeping come to the room and put 3-4 mattress pads on the bed – trust me it wouldn’t help!
I was able to find a Hampton Inn 5 min away. What is crazy is the Hampton was $89 and the regular price for this trash dump was $83.99 (I rec’d a AAA rate). What I got for $5.01 more was amazing. I thought I was in the presidential suite!
“Neal” refunded me $100 of a $160 charge. I’ve sent a message to their corporate office to get the remainder of the money back. If this was the only option for sleeping – I would sleep in my car and use the bathroom at a McDonald’s to brush my teeth in the morning. You will sleep better...
Read moreDon't go to this motel. There is no free breakfast the wifi is out more than its on. It goes on for 1 hr then it's out for the day. They constantly have Xfinity here yet nothing works. Everything runs through the wifi so when it's out you can't even watch TV there. They don't provide you with any updates. We pay for the room that's suppose to include wifi and 80% of the time it's not working and they don't provide any details. Maybe this place shouldn't run their tv through wifi if they can't even figure out how to keep it on. The door to the motel isn't even working so anyone can just walk into the building without a card. During my stay some guy kept pounding on the neighbors door every other night. They don't have any type of security or anything. Again there is no free breakfast the lobby is empty except for one lone ice machine. I wouldnt recommend coming here if you're planning on spending more than a night because you won't be able to watch TV and when you go to inquire about anything they have such a strong accent you can't understand what they say anyway. Piss poor excuse for a "hotel" which btw isn't a hotel it's a motel. A hotel is the holiday inn this is a motel no breakfast no security anyone can just come up to your door. Not sure who these ppl are leaving reviews about breakfast but it's clearly outdated or lies. Also says no smoking but ppl do because my bathroom constantly smells like cigarettes and the halls stink of weed everyday. I smoke but I do it outside like youre suppose to. This hotel is poorly ran and you don't get help or answers. They should be giving me a couple free nights. Been here for 3 weeks and most of the time the wifi hasn't worked so I can't even chill in bed and watch TV I have to use my phone. When I pay for service call me crazy but I expect to get that service. If I could give negative...
Read moreCharged my Debit Card $208 while I was in the hospital. Be careful with these foreign thieves. They saved my debit card number and ran my card for $208 on May 19th. I was physically in the hospital with an illness. not to mention the management called the ambulance for me so they seen me get taken away. Why would they still charge my card a week past that without my permission. I never agreed to have my Chime Debit Card information saved in their computer system. And I most definitely did not sign or put in my pin number for this random charge. I now have to file a dispute claim with Chime against these Days Inn Berlin thieves. I was released from the hospital expecting there to be over $250 in my account only to see that my available balance was only $27... NOT my monthly $250 annuity payment. This was wrong. I am now homeless because of this whole hospitalization. I was transferred to another hospital in Newark, DE so I wasn't even able to file a dispute claims form in time for Chime to investigate. I only had 10 days to fill out claims form and I missed it due to multiple hospitalisations. They still have or threw out all my belongings. I am simply spending all this time posting this so that no one else has to become victims to the inconciderate management at THE DAYS INN of Berlin, NJ. I probably will never see that $208 not my belongings again but if this information can maybe help someone then all this time posting this will...
