Date September 10, 2022 Event: Wedding at El Zocalo El Zocalo Incident I was person that reserved the venue on behalf the bride. Before I contracted to reserve the venue, I was given a tour of the facility by Martha Hotton. She showed me the rooms that are used by the bride and her bridesmaids & matron of honor to get dressed and prepared for the wedding. There are two adjoining rooms, and I was told that both rooms were setup and to be used for the wedding party. No one informed us that one of the rooms was an office for the maintenance person. We also were not told that the maintenance person would be using the room during the wedding while the girls were getting dressed. The room has a window for one room to another. The maintenance person was in the room whole the girls were dressing. It is appropriate for Mr. Cisneros to be using going in and out of a room being used by young girls that are changing their clothes and storing belongings during the wedding. On the day of the wedding at approximately 3:55 pm one of the bridesmaids went to the bathroom and noticed there was feces in and around the toilet bowl. She asked Mr. Cisneros (Maintenance worker of El Zocalo) to check the bathrooms before the wedding began to ensure they were clean for the guests. In response, Mr. Cisneros came to the wedding room and asked us “who complained about the bathroom? In an aggressive manner and with a raised voice. We explained what happened and he responded, “well come show me where the poop is!” We were shocked that he would not just go check himself as an employee of the venue. At around 10:15 pm. Mr. Cisneros came outside and began to accuse us of stealing his files off a small blue table in the wedding room. We told him we would never steal anything and that we had the bouquets on the blue table that he said was his desk. He continued to become more aggressive and more accusatory and insisted we stole the file. He asked approximately ten family members and friends accusing us of stealing the file. (Now we understand that it contained the wedding contract which he could of printing from any computer). Mr. Cisneros, then attach on of the bridesmaid and target her regarding the file. She became upset and asked him why he was targeting her if it was because she was black and that he did not need to talk; to her that way. He then grabbed her arm and put his arm next to hers and told her something to the affect, my skin color is the same as yours. without her permission. At that point I asked him to calm down. Some of the guest in the general area heard the commotion and went in to try to defuse the situation and clam Mr....
Read moreI have been to tons of weddings and seen a bunch of venues. That being said I have never seen such a potentially beautiful historic venue get neglected. After doing some research I see it is owned by the city and that would make sense. The management staff has let this place go. The venue was dirty and when I say dirty there were cobwebs, dirt, smudges, marks on the walls, floors, and windows. Now if you are trying to figure out what wedding I was at here is a hint…. You guys put out a broke table that collapsed on the guests during the event. Who does that? The bar is another joke. The bartenders reeks of alcohol and after speaking to the bride and groom I believe they got taken advantage of with the open bar. They had an open bar of 4 thousand which last for a few hours. Then within an hour after hitting 4 thousand it hit another 4 thousand? Something tells me the scam is real here and because the venue only allows one bar to tend there you have to use them. Someone should open an investigation into the laziness and the way they take advantage of their guests. It is disgusting and the bar ran out of ice halfway through the event! Then did not have the critical thinking skills to go to the gas station to buy some. STAY AWAY...
Read moreBeautiful wedding venue, however it is unfortunate how poorly managed/maintained this place was by Mr. Cisneros. He had his office with a window right where us bridesmaids and the bride were changing, and would come in and out of the room unannounced. We were unaware the office was located there and that he would be using it that day. Additionally, the bathrooms were poorly kept & it’s a poorly air conditioned venue. And finally, at the end of the night, Mr. Cisneros accused about 10 of our family and friends of “stealing” his folder containing files of the wedding contract. Even grabbing my friend, one the bridesmaids arms, accusing her of stealing that file. The stealing accusations turned out to be false as he found it somewhere he misplaced it. It is such a shame, it would be so much better if this place was not horribly managed/maintained...
