This museum is lovingly curated, and has an impressive array of both items from the Sherman Family, and items from William Tecumseh himself! The guided tour was very personal and gave a lot of information about the background of one of the greatest Generals in American History, and the family he came from! My six year old history buff was entranced! Thanks for the lovely time!

My husband and I were celebrating our 10 yr anniversary. We planned on visiting on our way home ( we live 3 hrs away but it was on our way home). The door was locked even though the signs said open 12-4. So I was taking pictures and after a few minutes a man came to the door on his phone. After he finished his conversion, he asked if we had an appointment. Nowhere on the website does it say you have to have an appt. Then we're told we HAVE to wear a mask. He did not ask if we were vaccinated. We were extremely disappointed and left because we had a long trip home and waiting would have made it that much later...

The guided tour was outstanding the curator was extremely knowledgeable about the Sherman family history, the building and General Sherman. The house and grounds are very well kept and the furnishings were authentic to the period. I really enjoyed this tour and learned quite a bit regarding the history of the area and the Sherman family. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in the early history of...

Interesting museum. The docent who led my tour was very knowledgeable and provided interesting information about Sherman and his family that helped to put them in context. There are some high quality gallery exhibits upstairs with many Civil War artifacts. Definitely worth a visit if you’re near Lancaster. It is in easy walking distance of downtown restaurants, shops, other museums, and lots of great...
