We were super lucky to get a window seat and sit next to a couple who love Lancaster. We had a great conversation with them. Our favorite part was the mussels with chorizo in beer. SO DELICIOUS. Pictures don't do it justice. All we wanted to do was soak the baguette in that but we are gluten intolerant and the beer was more than enough for us that night. We had two cocktails that were okay - nothing out of this world or done exceptionally better than other places. May it's because they were SUPER busy. Not sure but will give them another try on a different day. The place looks okay too - a little too dark for our place. The windows do a great job of brining in the light. The isle are super narrow so if you are a bigger person, just fyi it might be a tight fit. I got a salad that had too much lime but that's just my taste buds. Might be great for someone else. My steak was super well done even though I asked for pink in the middle. There were a couple of pieces of the salad that looked like they were going bad. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I would totally recommend this place for it's pizza. Next time we stop by we will just order the pizza and different drinks. Maybe sit a table instead because the counter service wasn't that great.

This spot in Lancaster serves local fare in a beautifully renovated building right on the main street downtown. Their Buffalo chicken pizza (thin crust) is so crispy and delightful to the senses in every way!! I've loved it for years served both ways but thin crust is the perfect ratio of toppings, imo. I got the fresh caught Mahi Mahi served with the bourbon butter and the house made risotto 😍 Nearly perfection! The green beans had snap and a bit of a chili oil served on them! I was very happy for the price as well! My husband got the burger and it was good, although not quite cooked to his preferred medium well. Their craft beer selection on tap as well as their bourbon collection is impressive for this small town and I love stopping in any chance I get! Matt has done a great job running that restaurant throughout the years and keeping the vibe elevated and the quality of the food on point!

Lancaster is lucky to have Ale House 1890. We are home visiting family, we've been away from Lancaster for a long time and are astonished by all of the new restaurants, cafes, and bakeries available on Main Street. Ale House provided incredible service, and even better food. The liquor and beer selection is top tier and the prices are reasonable compared to big city prices. Our table ordered shrimp and grits, BBQ shrimp with risotto, burgers, mac and cheese, french onion soup, pecan chicken, and duck perogies. I personally sampled a bit from every dish and have to say they were all wonderful. The appetizers we tried were also fantastic. For a big table of 10 the food came out surprisingly fresh and hot. The wait was short, and the restaurant was packed on a Monday so that's how you know it's good. Any time we visit Lancaster in the future, we'll be dining at Ale House 1890.

The restaurant atmosphere is very good and we were excited to try it out. The service was just OK. They were not busy and our waiter didn't check on us and we noticed his absence. At the end we had to wait for him as he was holding a gossip fest with another waiter. As another waiter passed us the actually called his attention to us. So not horrible but noticeable. The food. I will start with mine. I had Steakhouse Cobb. For the most part the salad was good such as the ingredients. The part I didn't care for was the steak as it was tough. Now I did as for well done, so many would blame that on me. I also didn't care for the blue cheese. Again my fault as I told the waiter no blue cheese dressing but instead ranch. As I missed the actual blue cheese that came with the salad, you can't expect the waiter to point out their is also blue cheese on it. They did put a lot of blue cheese on it, so if you like that flavor you can get more with the blue cheese dressing. The amount of steak was good. The overall salad is not a very large salad for the money. So if you blame me for the well done steak being tough and the blue cheese my dish would be a 4. I also got the grilled asparagus it tasted very good but was over cooked with some of it being mushy, so the texture was off, 3. The other person who dined with me didn't like his Chopped salad as some ofthe lettuce appeared bad, so he was picking out old lettuce. The grilled chicken was very scare and it was cold as if it was some form of prepared chicken. I guess it was good there wasn't much there as he couldn't eat it. He gave the salad a 1 to 2. He also got the green beans. He thought they were over cooked with little flavor a 2 to 3. He also felt with the lack of a real chicken breast that the salad was pricy for the value. Now given his critical comments that is why the food hit the low of 2. If you blame me for my issues maybe the overall food is as high as a 3. I do think this place could be very good. The menu looks very good, but we are watching calories so we went with salads. As anyone can tell you you will find a restaurants weakness if they have one when you are dieting and eating salads. I do look forward to retrying the restaurant when I am not dieting. I wish more restaurants would focus on a good salad as an entree for those of us...

I really like the atmosphere and the menu is creative. Its only OK. High prices for meh food. We had the mussel appetizer, its cooked in beer, has chorizo and seared tomatoes. Didn't like it, every bite was inconsistent, the tomatoes and chorizo were thrown in at the end rather than being sauted all together. Also, the chorizo seemed poor quality-it may have been regular sausage because flavor wasn't there. Mussels came with bread which was really good except the bottom was really hard like it had been sitting on a warm surface too long. The chef came out to ask about the mussels which was nice but at the same time, a cook was glaring at us so we were hesitant to give feedback... We had what the menu describes as duck duck perogies... it was also only ok. The duck was gray, the pierogies seemed to be mrs t's brand and not cooked to order as they were dried out around the edges. The sauce was similar to a stroganoff which I enjoyed. Last, we had the shrimp and grits. Also, only ok. The shrimp with barbecue sauce was flavorful and cooked nicely. The grits were not creamy which was disappointing but I don't think the menu describes it as creamy so that's my problem. The bacon on top was very hard, clearly had been sitting around for a while. I would suggest they move to bacon ends and pieces (ask your purveyor) if they plan to continue serving this. The service was fine, would have liked more frequent visits so we could give feedback but seemed too busy. Disappointed when we asked for rootbeer as listed on the back of the menu ( in a bottle) and the server suggested mr pibb as they don't...

We were on vacation 4 days in the area, and this is by far the best meal we had during our stay. I ordered the Avocado BLT (I got no onions because I'm not a huge fan....word of advice, I think the onions would've tied the sandwich together that much more) but it was incredible. My handsome ordered the beef and Gouda macaroni, and he was raving about it the entire time. He even ordered a side of bread so that he could eat the leftover sauce from the skillet.

Very good drinks, everything around us smelled and looked amazing...great service....but BONUS awesomeness...

We ate out on the patio, and there were a couple younger people sat behind us with their dog (adorable, well behaved...but not the point lol) the server actually brought a collapsible bowl to serve the dog water while they enjoyed their meal! I've never seen a restaurant do that. Completely incredible.

The inside atmosphere seemed more proper and fancy, while the patio seemed laid back and relaxing. Absolutely marvelous experience. 12/10.

I think the only possible complaint was that the dessert we ordered (chocolate cake) was far too sweet for me. BUT I'm also not a very avid sweets eater, and I'm sure 98% of everyone else who orders it would LOVE it.

We will...
