Upon my FIRST visit in June, my nails were very nice. I called ahead to inquire about their wait-time & prices to ensure their website was accurate. I spoke with Lambchop & he was so kind & made a appointment for me within 5mins. I arrived at 2:45p, checked in and washed my hands. From what I could see, the salon was clean & had signs posted recommending safety practices. I waited about 15-20mins, which was understandable since it was Memorial Day weekend and the salon was a little understaffed. Ms. Mary did my gel pedicure($55) & Ms.Tina did dip powder on my natural nails($60), I also added tips on their receipts. They seemed very professional & efficient. This was my first nail salon visit in almost 16months so I was a bit nervous but I love my nails & will definitely return soon!!!
My second visit was to get a get pedicure, done by Peter, I had to almost beg him to show me more of their gel colors, and settled for a swatch that looked like what I wanted but the once I got home I could see that it was not at all what I wanted, the lighting/swatches are very deceptive. So I went back the very next day to try again, thankfully they only charged me for color change($25 & I also Venmo’d him a separate tip). Unfortunately, Peter filed—without soaking—the gel off my toes & was so rough that my toenails were weak & less than a week & a half later the toenails that I’ve maintained health/length for the last year & a half while not going into a nail salon were breaking into short stubs one by one.
My third visit was fine, I WANTED gel as I feel it would be healthier for my nails to grow strong but Lambchop insisted dip powder is better & healthier, idk how true this is considering thy use the unsanitary way of community dipping everyone’s fingers in the same jars of color instead of sprinkling the powder or using a separate jar & disposing of the left over/contaminated powder. But I only asked for a color change, by this time, I realized they don’t do the massage or hot wax on your hands like I’m used to when getting a “manicure” back home at Vo’s. I showed a pic for a design on 2 fingers per hand. Lambchop said he could do the design with a gel color & a skinny paint brush. They turned out nice & I almost wished I’d gotten more fingers done. He told me $75 & I Venmo’d him a tip.
Unfortunately, I probably won’t be returning after my fourth visit yesterday. I went in for a new color & I didn’t have to wait too long but I did see a roach run under the counter while I waited, so Idk about the overall cleanliness... I asked for gel but AGAIN Lambchop insisted the dip powder would be better, I honestly get the feeling they push dip to charge more... I had a pic with a new “design” which we went back & forth about because he could not get the dip base color right. The owner’s wife and another guy kept talking to him & coming to look at my nails. The guy was very interested but I could tell the lady had an attitude that Lambchop was doing a design for me & sucked her teeth & spoke in their language to him when she walked by, not once did she say anything to me. I could make out “gel,” “dip” & “design” so I knew she was fussing about my nails to him. Classy looking lady, but nasty attitude. He told me $80 & that’s when I KNEW they had told him to charge more. Granted there’s a small design on all fingers, I’d hardly say it’s worth $80, He did dip on my natural nails, painted the design & a gel top coat (of-which I did not ask for) he could have as easily dried the paint & then done a clear dip top coat, plus there was resin & gel left under most of my nails making them look messy.
Not sure why the prices fluctuated so much because “the math is just not mathing,” but they absolutely need to be more transparent especially for the quality of service & get some pest control ASAP.
Pics attached of the designs that I asked for vs. what I got, respectively—minus my first trip as it was just a trial run to test their service & minus my pedicure as I’m at too embarrassed of these...
Read moreSuper disappointed. Made appts a week in advance for my bestfriend and i for a full set of acrylics + pedicures. The pedicures were fine, however they didn’t last more than a day despite having ample amount of time to cure/dry. i had my pedicure done before my acrylics, so you’d think they’d be dry. I put my socks and shoes on 2 hours after my pedicure, and when i got home, i removed my socks/shoes to see my nail polish on my toes that should’ve been dry considering they dried for hours before i put socks on, had fuzz and was all messed up. when I was getting my acrylics done, the lady doing my acrylics definitely judged me by my appearance as I was dressed down in comfy clothes and not wearing makeup. she rushed me pretty badly as the salon was busy. this was extremely frustrating to me considering that we had appointments. My acrylics were very flat and didn’t look very naturally rounded on the nail bed. She basically slapped acrylic on there, made it smooth and flat, and filed it. not to mention I specifically asked her to make them stronger to last as i work with my hands a lot. . She didn’t even use the bonding agent before applying the acrylic???? She also demanded we use gel on top because it’s “better and regular polish will just peel off” but she didn’t even cure the gel properly so not even 20 min after leaving there my gel was peeling up on multiple nails. Also the length of the nails was not even on both hands. Pretty frustrating because I paid $80 for the acrylics and $40 for the pedicure only to be extremely dissatisfied with my service!!! my appointment was at noon. I don’t even think I left until about 3:30 PM because of how overbooked they were. I sat there waiting for a long time to have my pedicure done. I sat at the counter for a long time after my pedicure to have my acrylics done just to have the acrylic nail tech rush completely and do a poor job. it hasn’t even been a full two weeks and almost every single one of my nails has gel peeling off with sticky gel underneath it because it wasn’t cured properly!!! Waste of my time and money and i will...
Read moreIf I could go lower than one, I would. The point of asking for up front pricing is because you’re expecting to receive a service for stated and agreed upon price. Two separate occasions with months in between, the same individual has over charged for services rendered.
Months ago I was charged for taking off gel polish when I explicitly told the individual it was regular polish and when it came time to pay I was charged more than quoted.
Today, I simply needed two nails repaired, not overly long, no gel polish. I was quoted 14 just to repair those two. I was also quoted 38 to repair the two and change the nail polish (regular polish) on the rest of my nails. Because I had a prior engagement and I am planning to take the whole set off soon, I said go ahead and just do the repairs.
The gentleman proceeds to fix the two nails. I go to pay and then he says it was 16. I asked how when he and another woman literally just quoted me 14. He proceeded to tell me each nail is actually 7.50. Even if that were the case, that still would have only been 15, but again, I asked UP FRONT and was told 14. When I asked why the additional fee I was told, “oh, that’s because of the take off”.
I know this sounds trivial, but it’s not about the money. It’s the principle. While the amount quoted in my opinion seemed steep in the first place, I was paying for the convenience and was willing to pay what I was told UP FRONT. My issue lies in the me asking UP FRONT for pricing and being switched at the time of pay.
If this were a one time occurrence, I’d be willing to overlook it, but since it has been twice with time in between (honestly the reason I hadn’t been back), this leads me to believe this is a...
