Dates of travel - Friday, February 22, 2013 thru Monday, February 25, 2013||||Cabin PROS –||1.Kitchen – Has all the amenities/cooking utensils you need. Large kitchen table. However, 2 of 6 wood chairs are broke and will collapse when sat on at any moment. ||||Cabin NEGATIVES – posted backwards because #1 is too important to NOT read first ||1.Filthy cabin - we finally enter the cabin. What a shock. The cabin was covered with cob webs from top to bottom…on the walls, ceilings, in the bathrooms, in the bedrooms, baseboards and in the kitchen. The linens on ALL beds were NEVER changed from previous guests and spiders were in the pillow cases on one of the beds. Blankets were tossed on the closet floor. It looked like the cleaners pulled the blankets up over the mattresses and walked away. The carpet on all levels was dirty and never vacuumed from previous guests. Minus the spiders in the bathroom, both were clean. ||2.3 Level Cabin with very steep stairs to level 2 and 3. 1st floor is living room, laundry room, bathroom/ bedroom. 2nd floor is kitchen, dining room, bedroom/bathroom. 3rd floor is loft.||3.Again, who’s ever job it is to clear the property of snow did NOT do their job. The stairs that lead to the front door was knee high packed with snow. I expected to arrive to walk in the cabin. Not arrive to shovel snow. Oh but they do have snow shovels on hand for your convenience.||4.If arriving in the winter - Cabin driveway is a very narrow long "tandem" parking space literally between 2 huge pine tree trunks and with a pretty good slope. My husband’s truck literally slide into one of the pine trunks because the driveway was not cleared properly of snow and ice. We finally got the truck unstuck and it took an hour for the guy to arrive to throw gravel down. We ended up parking on the front side of the cabin where the front door is but had to move quickly to avoid being towed.|| ||Overall impression – The cabin needs a deep cleaning; new beds; new couches - the mattresses are horrible on ALL beds; couches are worn out down to the springs and DO NOT HAVE A PULL OUT BED. There is only 1 T.V. in the cabin which worked fine. Heater downstairs works great but heater up stairs does not work well. We froze throughout the night. Cabin needs some serious cleaning and TLC. It is most definitely NOT worth the rental amount. Valentine, from the rental office immediately sent her top cleaning crew to cabin. We had to leave for 2 hours after just arriving but the guy and his did a...
Read moreIf you are considering renting a cabin for Big Bear Cozy Cabins, STOP!!! Don’t do it!!! After driving 8 hours (with two teenagers) to get to our cabin the weekend after Christmas we quickly discovered that our cabin had no heat, hot water and we could barely get into the drive way because it had not been plowed. We discovered all of this when we arrived at 8:00 PM Friday night, and called someone at Cozy Cabins to come over and make the necessary repairs. After waiting an hour in our 30 degree cabin the guy told us that the repairs could not be done that night, and “we should call around for other accommodations”. I suggested they (Cozy Cabins) help us find other accommodations because obviously they rented us a cabin that was not suitable to be used. As it turns out the guy they sent to do the repair work was part owner of Cozy Cabins, so you would think we would have a sense of wanting to make things right… Wrong!!! He begrudgingly made a couple of phone calls, but basically handed me the phone book and some phone numbers and said "good luck"… ||||Needless to say finding “other accommodations” that weekend at that time of night was totally impossible, so we headed back down the mountain at 10:30 PM. I called them six times the next morning trying to find out if they would be able to make the repairs so we could try to salvage the rest of the weekend. They finally called me back at noon to let me know that the owner has been notified, but they were not sure when the repairs could be done. At this point, I am done! ||||We rented this cabin over a month ago with plans of taking our family up to the mountains for a relaxing weekend of snowboarding. But, the only thing we got was a major disappointment and 15 hours driving. Did they refund the full amount of the cabin rental? Yes. Did they offer any compensation or a sincere apology? No! I understand that things happen, but the manner in which they dealt with this situation was the biggest disappoint. Do yourself a favor and NEVER rent a cabin from Big Bear...
Read moreI did a video of the place here:||http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynBP_vuUtgA||||Stayed 3 nights in this cabin (called Bear Comfy) it is a bit outdated and a bit run down but comfy non the less. ||||We paid 290 a night and got the third night free. 80 cleaning fee was charged us and a 40 dollar processing fee.||||A LITTLE DITTY ABOUT THE CABIN:||The heat worked well in the front and since the heater is connected to one of the other bedrooms, it makes the room super hot. The far bedroom and bathroom are cold and could use a little space heater for the back bedroom to balance.||||The cabin is located in a nice quiet area (town). It had a fully functioning kitchen and was fully stocked. It was a spacious place, good water pressure, had hot water, washer and dryer inside the back bedroom. ||||CONS:||1. TV remote didn't work so if we wanted to change the channel, we'd have to go over to the box and press the buttons. ||||2. The living room has a pull out mattress you can sleep on but it is very thin and sinks (caves) to the middle. ||||3. The back bedroom is constantly cold and doesn't get too warm because all the heat stays up front. A small space heater would solve this problem.||||Worked out well for us and we...
