After having seen a terrific performance of Pride and Prejudice 3 summers ago, I was so excited to go to the Abridged Complete Works of Shakespeare last night. While the acting was great, I was turned off by the partisan, political and religious jokes peppered throughout the entire performance. I appreciate the arts and also appreciate people’s differing views on politics and religion, but I prefer to keep the two separate. Unfortunately, this was not the case and it definitely soured my experience. If it were not for the fact that this evening was for my husband’s birthday, I would have gotten up and left.
